Cool place. Beautiful environment. Good food. Reasonable prices.
Food is great. Too crowded. Service okay. However not worth a recommendation
Looked for local fränkischen kitchen. The food is high quality, and done by the book. Not that new stuff for a Viennese though, on the first day here I hopped for a more weirder Nürnberg approach, but it seems we share the same dishes. No wonder, Bavaria and Austria are neighbors. They even have an authentic veal Wiener Schnitzel on the menu. The Keller Bier is very good, no CO2 added, really tasty. Prices, I'd say for the location, less than Vienna. On a Sunday afternoon I was lucky to grab a table by the door, looking down the pretty street, no stress at all. Very nice service. I read few other posts from disgruntled patrons that complained about bad service, slow or unfriendly personnel, but I guess it is something that can happen to anyone everywhere for trying to squeeze into places at peak times. Everyone wants to get best service Saturday evening around 7 and is pissed when the planned location is full and they don't get the royal treatment they're entitled to by birth. :-)
We were walking and searching something to eat, and we casually walked in this wonderful place!
It was a friday night, there was a minstrel who played very good, telling jokes (in german obviously) and everybody was singing and laughin!
Wonderful place! We ate the shoulder pork and the medallion with spatzle, they were both delicious!
Perfect beer and kitchen. Meals were served quickly, even the restaurant was quite full.
You can sit also in the medieval cellar with nice atmosphere. Very good restaurant.
Great authentic German food served in a relaxing atmosphere.
Great place, real good food (said bay an italian), very comfortable atmospere, the price performance ratio is top
Place was small and cozy. Had the French onion soup and the pork shoulder. Both dishes were excellent. Waitress spoke perfect English. Atmosphere was small town, but it was located just off the main downtown strip. Great experience overall.
Food was absolutely incredible. Pork shoulder with dumblings was possibly one of the nicest meals ive ever had.
Absolutely amazing. I have been in Germany for two weeks now and this is the best place I've been to. I ordered the pork shoulder roast, called "Schäufele" and it was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten in my life. The meat was fork tender, and the crackling was the best crackling I have ever had, anywhere. The crackling was perfectly crispy, not too hard, with a delicious creamy layer of fat underneath. The beer gravy was a wonderful compliment to both the meat and the potato dumpling. The sauerkraut was also wonderfully done, something that I notice really varies in quality in Germany, but this place did it right.
