This is a very decent midrange option, i'm a repeat customer. It's clean, and everything works smoothly – hot water, aircon, internet (the usual Cabo Verde slow), check-in and check-out. The owner is friendly, anglophone and often present. She prepares nice little breakfast treats, like quiche and fruit salad, but not before around 7.30 a.m. or so. There's good coffee and hot milk in separate thermoses, as it should be. There's also one helpful perfectly anglophone daytime receptionist. Good safe parking as well.
The hotel is half-way between Plateau (central old town) and the beach bars of Kebra Canela. Make sure your taxi driver knows the hotel, as it's 50 mtrs off the road and not sign-posted (it's close to the Brazilian embassy and even closer to Hotel Beramar, which are both marked). It may be shown in a slightly wrong position on Google Maps. A taxi to Plateau should be maximally 150 CVE (1,35 Euro). You can also take one of the many city buses stopping nearby for 41 CVE to whichever destination, including Plateau. I found that most, but not all taxi drivers know "Miradouro de Gamboa" hotel.
The big French windows go onto a long communal balcony that also leads to the breakfast space and has some sea view. If you want perfect privacy, you need to close the very dark curtains, but then you have no other window for daylight. One of my rooms there had a little bathroom window which helped in creating cross-ventilation. Otherwise, for cross-ventilation you have to open the French windows and the room door onto the inner corridor.
Really nice place. Owners will help you wherever they can! Breakfast is great.
