Lovely and well kept hotel. 4 bars and 4 restaurants. Staff friendly but not all of them speak good English but will help if they can. Recommended.
All inclusive good for the price but food quite basic. Poor WiFi, only available at some bars and reception with slow speeds even when available
I had a great time during my holiday in Cape Verde! The hotel was fantastic! I stayed in a large villa with private pool, which was a little bit cold, but when it’s hot outside you can go there and take a rest. The food in the main restaurant was very tasty. The best was the beach next to the hotel! The water was gorgeous!
No complaints, very clean, bed linen and fresh towels daily. Lovely large apartment. Pool area kept spotless and staff working here pleasant.
Guests would benefit from a brochure in room with information regarding hotel
Lovely relaxing holiday would visit again
Loved it, loved it!. Keep there 2 extra days due to the snow back home, could not believe our luck. Cleanest Hotel I've ever been in. Miles of volcanic sand mixed with golden from North Africa. Lovely local people. Would go back - unusual for us to say this.
Not 5-stars but 3.5. Nice big suites. Food and staff not quite as good as we hoped but we had a great time anyway.
Kind of artificiell. "adult day care" with all inclusive but no soule. Still Nice food and Staff.
Excellent hotel. Lovely food and drinks. Fantastic 2 hour walk along the beach to Santa Maria. 4 euro taxi back. Beaches are stunning
Great hotel. A few things could improve but the attitude of most of the staff was excellent.
Beautiful resort, poolsides clean and staff very, very helpful. All inclusive buffet was varied for all tastes.
One thing I will say is the resort makes the best mojitos I've ever had!!
We ate one night at O'Grille but unfortunately the menu was very limited and gave both of us rather upset stomachs. We ate the same that evening. I then didn't eat for 2 days but a short taxi ride to the pharmacy in Santa Maria made us feel slightly more "in control" as it were!
But generally a gorgeous, clean hotel.
Shocking. Our 3rd visit & was expecting good things but it's gone done hill. 1 1/2 hours until we got into our room, access control failure so had to issue keys, no kettle or Tea & Coffee, no Iron but the was a board, Safe didn't work, water was off so couldn't shower, manky mint in the Mojitos, problems with the beach sound system and a general staff not bothered attitude. Made our compliants several times with reception and asked to see the manager who couldn't be located. What has happened here? Very very very disappointing, not happy & not good enough.
This is the same hotel as Sensimar. Symmetrical building. Same great service and food and cleanliness standards. Very highly recommend.
not a 5 star hotel very run down.. but staff are friendly ...waterside restaurant is just not worth going too Cats in the restaurant and they jump up on to the tables to take food..
on thr plus side Sunshine from morning to evening very warm beach lovely
There at the moment can't find fault with anything food very good staff very helpful & hard working not like Caribbean no tip wars just helpful hard working staff will definitely be back
V. Good food, nice drinks, friendly and helpful staff. Quiet sandy beach nearby, Coast waters good for snorkeling. Nice destination for holidays. No stress!
Lovely stay here, pool is great and a good temperature, food very nice at all the restaurants. There are a few resident Cats here which are extremely cute and no bother at all, they do like a bit of attention too. My only criticism is that the bar & restaurant staff could be a bit happier, great service but just need to practice their smiling 😁 The sunset at the beach bar is a must see !
A nice location on a lovely island. Very nice rooms and good dining options. Plenty of room around the swimming pools and beach.
The room is huge and vert confortable but it wasn't clean enough. Not enough activites either but globaly correct
If what you want to do is relax and unwind then this is the place for you. Hotel was originally designed as time share apartments, as such the rooms are very spacious with lounges, kitchens and nice balconies and terraces. The down side is the communal areas are somewhat small by comparison. The main buffet is only small as are the bar areas. Food quality and selection is below average although there are a number of a la carte options available.
Very nice and comfortable hotel.
Food and beverage is ok. Buffet is not of the highest quality.
The place where this business (Castle On The Hill Designs) was created! Such a beautiful place where your imagination can run wild. Loved every minute we were there and would highly recommend.
Depends on room. Close to receprion and hotel entertainment you get no noise peace.
The hotel has 4 restraunts 3 you need to book. The spice restraunt that needs no booking is the best. The hotel beach looks lovely but difficult to get a bed . You need to pay extra for the beach beds. The hotel is not 5* but is nice. Staff are attentive. You can go green in your hotel and have 3 days a week with no house maid and they will give you a 30 eiro credit on your final bill. This can be used to upgrafe a meal or use in the spa. Over all the hotel is nice comfortable but noise for me is issue. The thomson rep meeting is worth going to as he can organise trips away from hotel they are not cheap and there is not a lot to do if you dont like the sea or water sport. If yoir not all inclusive this could be a rather expensive place to be.
This place is built on a very large area with low buildings. Between the buildings there are streets with a lot of vegetation spread out between everything. This gives a cozy, calm feeling and because of the large area, the place never seems full of people, and never is. The rooms are, like others have said, more like suites, and are modern and clean, with all the utilities most people might use. The overall feeling of the resort is calm, spacey and cozy.
There are four restaurants total. One of them is a buffet that does not have to be booked. The others have to be booked "on a daily basis", though most people including us could book for a whole week with no problem. Make sure you do that, otherwise they'll be fully booked quickly.
Now the restaurants themselves have very good food. The best one according to me is Ô Grille, located on the beach. Waterside has good food but very bad service. Don't expect to get what you ordered here. The buffet is fine as well. The fact that you have a choice between four restaurants itself gives this category 5 stars. New years buffet was not very good though.
The beach at the resort is huge and nice, with huge waves some days. Though there are rocks everywhere in the water, so you can't swim there. About 300 meters further along the beach you can swim with a few rocks, and even further there is a beach that is completely clear. Other than that you can take a free bus to Santa Maria, where they have a very wide beach with no problems and almost always green flag.
The people working at the resort are not always very professional, but always very very friendly. This applies to the locals in everywhere on Sal. The two pools are good and never full of people. Another thing worth mentioning is that things take time here. Checking in takes a lot of time because of all papers, taxes etc and expect to wait an hour for a table for lunch. This goes very well with the island's slogan "No stress".
I had a great holiday here and I do recommend this resort a lot. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Check the pictures of the resort for a good look at what you'll be experiencing. New years was amazing here as well. Thank you.
Second time in Melia Tortuga. Superb hotel. Like a garden of Eden. Excellent rooms and suites. You get a big suite for the price of a room. Very good food. Overall very gentle and efficient staff. This is like paradise on earth. A strong recommandation for this hotel a rare pearl.
