Beautiful open plaza right in the heart of Havana. Nearby the founding location of the city can be seen. Tour the ramparts and forts that protected this historic city. Stroll along a wooden paced street that is 300 uears old, and cosit the first church erected in the city. All this and more, surrounds the four sides of this plaza

Beautiful plaza with a lot of old building and interesting history. Lots of great places to have a meal and enjoy the local music played for the tourists.

A nice area to go and visit and see how life in Havana is at a more relaxing atmosphere. Just be careful there are a few people trying to make money doing magic tricks and caricatures. Just do not make eye contact and if they hand you something, do not take it or you will insult them and you will pay the price..

Plaza de Armas was our favourite plaza to people watch while we sat in the shade, resting our tired feet. The centre of the square is lush with palm trees and other tropical plants, while the perimeter is lined with elegant Baroque buildings.

Plaza de Armas was built in the 1600s and was used for military exercises up until the mid-1700s. After undergoing a transformation, it became popular among rich Havana citizens and attracted people who wanted to enjoy carriage rides around the area.

Plaza de Armas is invigorated by the second-hand book market that operates there every Tuesday to Sunday. Here you can browse Cuban classic books, now out of print, magazines dating back to 1940’s and 50’s, and newspapers from during the revolution.

Beautiful Plaza! There were a lot of panhandlers but it's worth coming here because it's so close to some nice cafes as well as other sights.

The book market, the performers, the live musicians, the restaurants, and the history make this place a one-stop-shop for many amazing things!

Located in old Havana this antique market offers a nice stop along your journey. With most of the stalls selling antique books and posters it does offer a nice change from the typical souvenir shops hawking magnets, Che hats and street art. By no means the high point of my trip I would say it is worth a quick visit. Like most things in Cuba the price is flexible so do negotiate. I believe the market is closed Mondays.
