This place is my favorite local spot. You can visit with parrots and a jutia, see local fruit growing including cacao, and there's a cheap and well-stocked bar inside. The guide is entertaining and educational, if you opt for an informal tour.

While the botanical garden is nice it will not throw you over board with regards to the variety of plants in the garden. However, the little "casa particular" within it was charming with the lady owner cooking the best homemade food every evening.
