It's was ok, a bit run down. Great views of the mountains and ocean.
Great holiday
Food not good this time not much entertainment people are great
The scenery is beautiful. You get what you pay. The hotel is small if you compare to popular destinations in Cuba. There seems to be a lot of unwritten rules and privileges (many clients have told me this is their 8 or + trip to this hotel). Expect line ups at the buffet, no fruit but papaya, barely any vegetables for the first couple of days. The first morning, I walked in the buffet (seeing that there was a lot of tables available), the hostess was rude and asked me to wait. She refused to seat me outside (there was 5 tables empty) saying it was ''reserved''. This is when I understood that there is favoritism due to tipping. The drinks are horrible, do not expect fresh tasty drinks. I dared to ask for a Daiquiri (big sign over the bartenders head said Daiquiri!). He told me in a very rude fashion that it was at the other bar at 5pm for Daiquiri.
The beach was ok, everybody hangs at the pool, so it is pretty easy to get a chair. The beach seems dirty, but it's not, the sand is volcanic therefore darker. This is a public beach so expect Cubans to approach you to sell coffee or honey. A lady approached me and said she wasn't doing to good (in spanish), she wanted me to buy her honey (that was in an Aquafina bottle). I politely declined many times. After the 4th time, I had to pretend she didn't exist, she was not happy. I felt cheap and awkward and it kind of killed my mood for the day. There are lifeguards that spend their time bumming off smokes of tourist and hanging around the pool bar. So make sure you have a partner before swimming. I went walking along the beach toward the ocean (it's a bay). Lots and lots of trash everywhere. It was quite a sad sight.
One of the day trips is Cayo Blanco. Heavy crowd if you go on Sunday. Expect people to be very possessive of the chairs when you arrive at the beach.
If you are in room 203, I pity you. I've had better beds in cheap hostels. I fixed the curtains and the toilet with dental floss. You can perfectly hear the discotheque from the other hotel cause the room is over the little theatre, which somehow amplifies the sound in the exact spot of this room.
I could not believe the amount of clients smoking all the time.
The hotel staff was unprofessional. Not all of them, but I got really rude responses when I would ask a simple question. If you have problems at night, do not expect any help from the front counter. They are on their mobile phones and could not careless of their clients.
Sadly, after this trip, I will not be coming back to Cuba. There are many other countries I need to explore.
This is a get what you pay for place. Dont go here expecting huge buffets, blender drinks and 24 hr food and drinks. The scenery is gorgeous and the people ar fantastic. The food is definitely manageable and drinks are plenty. Room are very clean but basic. We went with our kids and they made the best of what they had to offer. Alot of people have been there 10 + times so value is the key here. Go with an open mind and you will be just fine.
Lovely and romantic place
I just come back from there
Our home away from home! Clean, friendly staff, beautiful scenery and great people as well as being reasonably priced.
The hotel is very good and there is good attention. There is an incredible natural beauty. I only recommend that you go early to the restaurant because the meats are finished and then there is no more. It is unfortunate, it happened to me and I left the hotel for the unprofessional response they gave me. I still recommend these hotels.
