Very low key resort. Pool at the lower half was great. The beach had lots of waves. A new snack bar was being built on the lower half.

Well where do I start. This place was just great. We picked the 7 day stayyou'll want 14 FOR SURE. To begin it is a relatively long commute.roughly 4 hrs by plane then a 2hrs bus. The bus ride I'll say is a challenge, rough roads , driver swerved for the  pot holes.advice..buy beers before you board. The driver is very good tho. He tries to get ya there asap.
You arrive in the evening so you can't see the scenery untill ur last day back to customs. Oh ya ..be patient at the airport..it's small
And they do process you asap..but it is a limited place.

Also we picked the CABANA VIP OPTION. Well worth the price..express check in the boys took our baggage with a smile and an "OLA AMIGO" 😁
THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN2 DOUBLE but we just pushed together and voila a king.
The place is Beautiful.  Dated yes and in need of repairs and a paint job..but I wasn't complaining.
Everywhere you go is a gorgeous view. We were in  the older hotel but, there is a newer hotel up the hill..about a 5 to 10 minute walk with a nice interior ..nice pool..swim bar..etc. but I preferred the older hotel..more authentic and wide open.

The views were spectacular.  The staff courteous and friendly . MARCOS At the pool/snack bar..Elena the Sunwing Rep. Too many names to remember..all staff greeted you with smiles.
DENTIST on site good work for great price. Nice doctor on site too..had to treat me for an unfortunate run in with a sea urchin. Which reminds me..2 words..swim shoes😊
BEACH IS BLACK SANDbeautiful but more grainy than anything..I still walked the beach no shoes ..midnite volleyball games ..but don't swim in ocean afterdark..(see above note regarding swim shoes lol)
Lots to dolots to seeThank you to horse back your guide CHI CHI..nicest guy in Cuba.
And make sure you visit DANNYS  restaurant by horse drawn carriage. Romantic scenery and awesome foodVERY CHEAP.. about 40 pesos for 2 of us for food 2 bottles of wine and horse and buggy ride to and fro.
Anywaythis is not a  real party spot ..but man we found our "DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH"
A 2.5 STAR RESORT BUT A 5 STAR for experience.
    SEE YA NEXT YEAR 😉

Just got back a week ago. I could not get over how many repeat visitors this place received, and now I know why. The people around had full plates at every dinner, families had fun and people were seriously relaxing. Many things to do and the locals are very friendly. The staff were kind and helpful. I would take my family there in a blink.
It may not be perfect and the drive from the airport a little long, but so what.

This was my first trip to Cuba, and it was amazing. Relaxing, clean, friendly. The kids were bus all day, and we were able to reconnect with each other in an amazing environment. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the air conditioner worked great. The bar staff were quick and friendly. Cappuccinos were amazing.

Nice beach and the resort was very clean. However, the food was very poor quality (even for Cuba standards!) and the all "inclusive" bar was anything but that. They ran out of wine and vodka every day and I was told I had to buy it from the store. They didn't have blenders or shakers either to make certain island type drinks/cocktails. By food standards a few examples are that there wasn't butter or salad dresssing, instead they offered mayonnaise. The staff weren't very polite either. Maybe we went during an off time, but I wouldn't take a chance to visit this resort again and I have been to Cuba six times at different places where my experience was wonderful!

Clean and well cared for. Water is perfect, food is good lots of options, nearby village is nice to visit. Beds are good, water pressure is good, warm shower is a Cuban crapshoot, lots of fun.

Definitely not the most high end resort in the world, but the star ratings in Cuba don't mean much. The staff here are what make the experience so great. The food In Cuba is the same whether you go to a 5 star or a 3 star. Lots of return patrons here that have been coming for decades. Some of the decor is a little outdated and there are eliments of disrepair here and there but the booze flows freely and everyone we went with had a wonderful time. Lots of interesting local street parties and things to check out if you are a little more of the brave / adventurous.

Pros: Excellent room/bar/food service. Nice and clean beach. Easy and fast access to all facilities. Very clean rooms. Cayo blanco excursion was amazing.
Cons: Wifi is 3,2$ American for 1 hour and is really slow!!! No ATM. Exchanging money is super expensive. Excursions are expensive. Not enough umbrellas on the beach. Plastic uncomfortable beach chairs that are half broken. The animation team sucks (except the magicians, the dancers and the singers which are amazing). Too many local Cuban inside the hotel which i kinda felt awkward half the time with them as they were always staring at me and my wife. Its and old hotel and could need a renovation starting from fixing the shower and the toilet and maybe putting more comfortable beds and pillows. Beach has black sand :(
The person that i liked the most was the excursion tour guide Elena. She is really the best!!!! That woman deserves to be a hotel manager on something higher!
Overall experience was good and i would return maybe in the future with my kids.

We spent 14 days vacation Oct/Now 2014 with Cabano VIP Package (recommended).
Only 3 star but fill as 4.
Nice accommodation, good food (as homemade), good service, good beach ( do not scare "black sand" - it is not dirty), many offers for trips around
Nice quite place for seniors, divers, bikers with friendly people and nature (beach, sea, mountains) to be relaxed before winter in Canada. We are planning revisit this Resort this October again. After that I put a complete Review
