Wonderful beach in Cuba, I preferred it to the Cayos (Cayo Guillermo). Hotel is OK, maybe quite expensive but the only one on the small island. Water is expensive: bring water bottles if you stay more days. After 5pm, when the "day tourists" go back, it is a real paradise. When we stayed (4days) it was really windy, day and night. Two restaurants, the small one has to be reserved before but is really nice, usually with live music (salsa). Service is Cuban average, don't expect European standards.

The beach is beatiful, the bungalows not. It seems they stoped maintaining the hotel at least a decade ago. Mold in the bungalows, dirty towels in the bathroom, dirty (brown) water comimg out of the faucet Food is cubean standard which might look poor for europeans. For a short trip ok, but for a longer stay i would consider alternatives

The hotel and food is OK, our room was a bit dated. The beach is magnificent though!

    The shame of Cuba…
Let’s start with the positive: this island is paradisiac! White sand, crystalline water, palm trees… Everything that you can dream of.

However, the hotel is far from being up to the place it is located at…

The rooms are all different and it is difficult to know before your stay where you are going to land. It looks like they stopped maintaining this hotel, property of the Cuban government, a few years ago (if they ever did). The bungalow where we stayed was one of the “new” ones. The flush didn’t work when we arrived, a bedside lamp was broken, the linens were stained… We had a king-size bed but they have no linens that are big enough for these beds so we were provided with 4 small sheets… These new bungalows need to be refreshed urgently! At least to be repainted so they look new…

Whereas it is a very expensive (for the local market) full-board package, be ready to spend your money once you get there. Nothing is included… You’ll have to pay for all drinks including water and all activities (kayak, snorkeling…). Even the beach towels are extra… You just feel like nothing but a cash cow!

Finally, the food is terrible (except the breakfast that is pretty good)… Good news, you can opt for shrimps or lobster… but you will be charged additionnaly for it!

Well, I am sure there are many better places where you can go, enjoy the wonderful beaches and have an honorable place to stay.

You only go here for the beach, which is fantastic. Staff are surly with the exception of one waiter. Food is truly awful. Older rooms look very tired, newer bungalows are actually pretty good.

Amazing island. But the hotel is not very good
Very poor quality of service, and the food is not good at all

First off, the hotel is quite poor. The food isn't great and some of the cabins are bad shape. What makes up for this in spades is the location. Two kilometers of quiet, unspoiled tropical beach with the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico just a stone's throw from your cabin door.

If you are looking for a peaceful break away from the world and not fussy about your creature comforts then I would highly recommend Cayo Levisa.
