  Caution criminals! Scam! Totally corrupt!Don't rent a car there!!! Worst decision ever made on a vacation. I'm never again going to rent a car in cuba! The car was booked from the travelagency in germany. When we arrived zu take it for our in detail planned roadtrip around cuba for a week in january 2018 we were doomed.
  A guy named Mr. Morales at cubacars office at first told us in verry bad but for cuban conditions acceptable english to wait for the car that "had to be brought to the place from the airport and we should wait for it". We waited two hours where both employees at the office were gone "for lunch". Meanwhile other tourists stopped and waited to rent a car wich they, in comparison to us, haven't even booked from their homecountries. As the cubacar employees came back to the office they went in and had a talk with those who came after us and gave them a car bevor us!!! We talked to Mr. Morales but from this point on he couldn't understand english any longer. Not a single word!!! "We had to wait" they told us. Three other tourists, including a quite rich looking mexican and russian, went to their office and got each their car while we waited another 4 hours. The rich russian left us, not without giving the nice comment, "how really stupid we are not to know that we had to give some extracash, that's how it works in latin america!" But we already had payed a lot to the agency at home and had no understanding for this mafia business. So we called our travelagency several times while we waited, but they couldn't help us, even if it was originally the travelagency who had booked the car for us at cubacar!!! Had we booked by ourselfs and read the comments below, we sure never have done this mistake by ourselfs. We were so lucky to meet a nice cuban lady who was able to translate to Mr. Morales in perfect spanish that we want to talk to his Boss otherwise we will call the police. He got angry, made a phonecall and voila an other hour later after finally seven hours of stupid waiting we got a fried out Peugeot with misarable tires that just looked like they need to get fixed every moment. We just prooved if there wasn't any damage to report and got away as fast as we could. We lost a whole day thanks to corrupt "car mafia" Mr. Morales and his colleague. We hope they will strand up abroad one day like we did in cuba to make this experience. Because of this loss of time we had to make our way through on a cuban Autobahn on a pitchblack night in a tropic thunderstorm, trying to avoid bathtub deep holes, treebranches, people and animals crossing from Havanna to Viñales. We adwise everybody not to Do it like we did and we only did it because we hab no other choice to go rather than our next booked BNB accomodation by the end of the day.
  So to everyone who needs to rent a car don't go there. We already complained at our travelagency at home if they know their car rental partners and how anyone can Do this to tourists who well planned and well payed the whole tour months before.
  May the force be with you travelbuddies!
  We have made similar very bad experiences on our car trip including two times people playing fake policemen and trying to take money for "wrong parking" (we didn't pay and left just as local guides told us to do before the car trip). Later on we met real policemen who were corrupt and stole money from our lost wallet although we had whitnesses who signed together with the policemen for the amount of money that was in the wallet when they offered it to the policeoffice. Our ambassy was useless in this case of beeing stolen by the police. I know it sounds unbelieveable but it is true. Other experiences we made were that in fact of the "tourist license plate" on our car we were twice stopped and checked at "control points". We hardly recommend a roadtrip around Cuba only by a bus full of tourists with at least one local perfect spanish speeking guide. You won't get far with english or french.
  To cuba car: we don't make any business with criminals. Get rid of those employees soon!

  This happened last year. We waited almost a full day for our car, it was a Kia picanto and the front bumber got lose the minute we drove off. Not the best rental experience

  Is it possible to give less than one star.. I am not sure if you can find a worse company in the world with a worse service.. Stay away from this people.

  When we Visite Havana, this office was one of the reasens I cant recomment Cuba. Unfreandly, overweening and big-headed. Mr. Marcos Martines was a example of unfreandly Cuban-Custumer-Service. Because of this guys we lost a day of our Holiday, Thanks!

  Never rent a car from this company, they never have a car available for you and the people that rent the cars always want to scam you.
  they told me that I had to bring the car empty and pay $60 CUC for fuel, I said I'll bring it full the answer was we still charge you the $60 pesos and you lost more money.
  Also you have to pay cash for the rental which I don't like because when went to different branches to find a car the price that I got for an economic cars was different and really expensive.
  for Economic car they want $105 CUC, so $121.00 US, for the smallest car they have.

  Really bad experience. When we arrived at 9:00 am, there was no car for us for a few hours. Many other tourists with the same problem. Finally occured that there is no car for us this day. If only you can, avoid this company.

  Recientemente rente un auto por 14 dias.
  Con un mes de antelacion.
  Desde Orlando.Florida.USA
  Pague por un auto clase media Alta
  $108 diarios.
  Me dieron .clase media Baja. $78 pero no me dieron la diferencia de precio.
  
  Un auto lleno de golpes y problemas mecanicos.
  Sin Aire acondicionado.
  Les dije que nesecitaba El auto en El aeropuerto
  Jose marti.terminal #3.
  Porque viajaba con dos ninos pequeños.
  El auto, no estaba Alli.
  No .El mio.
  Llegaban personas a rentar y salian manejando.
  A pesar que Les hice regalos de $20 a algunos de Ellos.
  No resolvieron.nada
  Ni por humanidad.
  Si.no hasta 5 horas despues aparecio un auto
  Que nadie quiso.
  Al llegar a la casa de mi familia en Cuba
  Se estaba calentando.,Las luces no funcionaban,tampoco El Aire acondicionado.
  Estube dos dias esperando .porque me cambiaran El auto.
  
  Por otro de la misma clase y golpeado.
  Pero al menos caminaba y tenia Aire acondicionado.
  
  La diferencia de Gasolina entre Uno y otro fue
  De una raya (5litros)
  Los cuales Les deje Cuando regress El auto a la
  Terminal #3
  
  Pero los señores de cubacar
  No se comformaron querian cobrarme un tanque lleno de Gasolina .
  Por El que ya habia pagado Al recoger El auto.
  Inicial.
  
  Y no pude soportar mas El abuso contra mi y mi familia.
  Y me explote .
  Ellos me llamaron a la policia.
  Aun teniendo la razon .
  
  Es dificil ver Como estos ladrones estafadores
  Se refugian en la politica , .Algo
  Que nada tiene que ver.
  Ofrecen un servicio ,que Al final es una estafa.
  Un nido de ratas .que en cualquier gobierno.
  Seguiran siendo ratas.
  Al menos deben educarse y tener un Poco de profesionalismo y atencion Al cliente.
  
  Me amenazaron con ponerme en la lista negra y no poder rentar mas carro .
  En bicicleta con los bolsillos llenos de dinero.
  La paso mejor .sin tanto problema.
  
  Si Alguna persona interesada quiere contactamepara mandarle prueba de lo que digo.

  El dinero que gastamos es Cuba los que vivimos fuera de Ella.
  hay que sudarlo y trabajarlo duro.
  Eso merece un Poco de respeto.
  
  Cuando se ofrece un servicio.

  Ladrones. Thieves. Precios exagerados por automoviles con miles y miles de millas recorridas. Extremely high prices for truly old and crappy cars. Mantienen los carros en condiciones deplorables. Maintenance sucks!!! Horrible experience. Las calles igual de destruidas, especialmenete las autopistas. Maneje despacio y con sumo cuidado. Roads are not any better. Drive carefully in cities. Highways are even worst, awful!

  Disastrous experience. Booked the car at 9 it arrived two hours after (not the one we requested). Tires in horrible conditions, we had a 2 flat tires in 10 days (that had been repaired in a really superficial way by the assistance back in habana). Poor telephone assistance. For the drop off nobody showed where we were supposed to leave the car and we had to go by ourself to the airport, risking to lose the flight and paying 25 cuc of drop off. I highly recommend to avoid it.
