This hotel was not our best experience, as our hotel room had a defective shower, and the bed were really hard, but the staffs were friendly, and the accommodations were perfect for a kid. The beach was the best in all of cuba, the most beautiful, and if you are a scuba diver, this is your paradise.

We just returned from this resort. It was our first time ever to Cuba. the people are wonderful the food was not too bad not what we are use to but we didn't starve either. Great weather the entire week. The rooms that we had weren't good at all. We had two different rooms the first one there were issues, the second wasn't much better but at least the bathroom worked correctly. would we return yes we would but next time we would get a bungalow

The staff were great, beach and pool were good but the buildings were run down and dinghy. The beds were so uncomfortable it made sleeping an ordeal. The worst food at the buffet! Everyone was sick with gastrointestinal symptoms. This was my fouth trip to cuba and I definitely wouldn't return to this hotel.

Most of the staff was friendly and helpful. The Corales section cafeteria was not clean and always full of grease smoke. Dogs everywhere if you eat outside. Usual Cuban food (not very good) although you could rely on the morning eggs and toast. Ice cream available at lunch and dinner. No bananas in 2 weeks although you could buy them on the street.

Room was rundown with matresses that felt more like a boxspring. Took 2 days to have the sink unclogged during which time we had to brush our teeth in the shower.

Decent pool but you have to endure loud and not so good music. That is probably why the pools were mostly deserted with everyone at the beach. Cheap nightly entertainment except for the synchronized swimming evening.

Beach is not good for swimming. OK for snorkeling. Nice catamaran rides. Usually enough beach chairs and no music on the beach.

Many Cubans are guests at the hotel. Close to 50% during the week-end. They stuff their plates like the obese at the Golden Corral restaurants in Florida. At least they seem to enjoy the food, contrary to most Canadians I met.

If you want to rent a bike, scooter or a car, be aware that the office is only open from 10:00 to 11:00 (in theory anyways). On two days I waited until 10:30 before leaving and no one had yet showed up.

Internet is not available by wi-fi. They have two terminals at each lobby which you can use $.

The two expresso machines at the Corales both broke down on the same day. Other times you could not have coffee because there were no cups, or no coffee, or you could not have a drink because they had no more glasses etc

Note that the free domestic beer is 1 CUC at the 24 hr bar between the Carisol and the Corales.

On the plus side, there were a lot of shrubs and flowers.

Lastly, bring your mosquito repellent if you plan to stay outside after sunset.

Had an excellent trip - caring attentive staff and the food and drinks were great. Plenty of selection including A la carte and buffet restaurants. There are 2 hotels on-site, Carisol and Los Corales. You have access to both sides.

Everyone went out of their way to ensure you had a good time. The beach was kept very clean and there were many activities such as beach volleyball, paddle boat/kayak rentals, and yoga/stretching daily. The nightly entertainment was top notch as well. Both male and female performers were extremely skilled and there were no major mistakes made in any of the shows I watched. There are other activities such as ping pong and pool tables, free bike rentals, and of course dancing in the disco at night. The snack bar halfway between the two hotels turns into a Disco and is the best spot for dancing and drinks in the evening hours.

The excursions were also a great value. I did the horse and buggy ride to the aquarium and around Baconao with a seafood lunch. Also a horseback ride into the mountains which included swimming and coffee with the locals. Finally, and the best in my opinion, was a ride up to the top of Gran Piedra which included a visit to a coffee plantation.

The only issue I could find was that several parts of the resort needed maintenance both inside and out, but much of this was totally understandable due to the hurricanes several months ago. There were constantly workers fixing things up which was greatly appreciated!

I would highly recommend this resort! The value is fantastic.

I enjoyed the experience of the culture and people. However we where harassed by police and bribed of our belongings. The officer wanted alcohol or currency in order for us to be set free on our way. Also other members of the community especially younger generation begging and harassing tourists. The biggest thing is theft one night as it was raining most people are indoors so local cubans will patrol the resort looking for any items to steal that can be useful. I personally had my stuff stolen off the patio even 2nd story up they stacked lawnchairs and stole stuff off 2nd floor patios. I dont want to get into to much more one last thing is they let local cubans bring the familys in the resort on weekends. Okay fine but there are incidents that occur when doing so we had local children peeing in the pool and other places as they please and animals all over resort. Other than that it was a great place awesome experience.

Good value for the money. My wife and I spent Christmas week there with our family and enjoyed ourselves. Remember, this is Cuba and they are still recovering from Hurricane Sandy's direct hit, so don't expect perfection. Package was all you could eat and drink, generally buffet but waiter service was available. The fresh fish at dinner was delicious. Special celebration including champagne and turkey dinner on Christmas Eve. We stayed in a spacious bungalow with a view of the sea. Water pressure was sometimes weak at peak periods of use during the day. You could spend all day at the beach or at either of two pools with bar or take a tour into Santiago de Cuba depending on the day of the week. At least one bar was always open. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Activities we did: large catamaran into Santiago, swimming, bicycle riding, running, hiking in the hills, mingling with the local people, SCUBA diving, nightly entertainment.
