Please read all poor reviews and the owner’s responses and you will see his lack of maturity. Wouldn’t recommend staying here. There are much nicer places with owners who aren’t looking for a quick buck. The owner is the only person in the area who has made me feel uncomfortable to the point that we choose not to stay the additional day we had booked. Worth paying extra to not have to worry about his temper in the middle of the night. He requires cash so that you can’t dispute a credit card charge when you don’t want to stay your additional night. Also WiFi is listed as an amenity but internet didn’t work well

We booked a room via booking. Reservation was accepted and after few hours owner sent an email that he extended stay for another couple and he doesn't have room for us (what a unprofessional behaviour) we were 10 hours before arrival to Puerto Jimenez and had do find something immediately.
The worst thing was that owner didn't want to cancel our reservation, he told me that I have to do it by myself. It was non refundable rate so I couldn't do that. He wanted do to it by myself probably because of easy money from non refundable tariff.
Intervention in booking helped. I hope they will stop cooperation with this rude and unprofessional owner.
Anyway, outside this hotel looks ugly. Don't trust the owner.

If you are looking for a hostel or a hotel to stay in Jeminez this is the perfect place. It's quite and located in between the waterfront and the main street. You have a nice common place with kitchen, books and plenty of room to sit and chill. Rooms were clean customer service was fantastic and overall accommodation the best you'll find in Costa Rica. Hot water, good WiFi and good comfortable clean bed. Definitely recommend cabinas tropicales. Just a tip: If you wake up early enough (6am) and go into town for coffee (it's very quite) you might see monkeys on the way ;).

I would recommend Cabinas Tropicales. We stayed here the night before and after hiking into Corcovado. Mark was friendly and the rooms were clean and new. Expect to have to ask him to reset the breaker for the air conditioning if you want it to work though. Easy walking distance to everything in town.

My friends and I loved our stay. Mark was awesome. The cabinas were beautiful. There was so much to do locally and Mark helped arrange some fun trip and activities. I will definitely be visiting again and bringing my kids.
