The best place to stay in Puerto Jimenez for the price. Right on the water and close to everything. Scarlet Macaws everywhere around the property. Has a great plunge pool. Kayaks to use.
I recommend paying the extra money for the ocean view. The room we had was small but clean. Small fridge, A/C and a wonderful hot shower.

Small, quaint hotel at water's edge with kayaks, pool, outdoor kitchenette.

We stayed at Cabinas Jimenez for 4 nights, our family of four found plenty to do and explore in the area and we felt quite at home during the evenings relaxing by the pool, hot showers, good WiFi. The outdoor kitchens at first surprised me, but then I realized how genius the idea is, you don't heat up your room, or fill it with cooking smells, and the view while you are preparing a mealawesome!

Rooms are clean and the staff clean each day. One of our favorite memories is that of the amazing Juan Carlos, retrieving green coconuts directly from the trees and opening them for our boys (10 & 5) to drink fresh coconut water and eat the fresh coconut meat. Wow, awesome Costa Rica experience, Pura Vida!

Great little rooms. Nice people. Right on the water, but not that great for swimming. Close to downtown and lots of restaurants. 5 km from a super beach past the airport. The gardener gave us all coconuts to drink.

First of all : We had these beautiful birds during our breakfast on our own terrace right in the trees next to us eating their morning snack.

The location of the Cabinas Jimenez is perfect! The price for the very beautiful cabins (we had the ones with two terraces direction to the ocean with a kitchen outside) is more than fair. Included are some canoe laying just on the 20 seconds walk down to the pacific to paddle around the harbour / puerto with stunning views. Also there is a cute little pool with very clean water if You don't want to cool down in the ocean.

The Staff was very helpful and the cabinas were very clean and beloved with details.

    Thanks for everything! Pura Vida!

Really a gem. The view of the port from the room was picturesque. The free use of kayak and bike made was a great way to get around and experience this location. The 24/7 pool was a perfect way to end the day! Highly recommended.

I only gave this place three stars but for a three star place to stay this is a great place. The staff are all very accommodating and the price is nice as well. It is right on the water so the breeze off of the water is very welcome during the hot and humid day. Bring your own soap and shampoo! If you do not enjoy geckos this is not a great place for you. I love them myself and enjoy seeing them. They have a small pool which was very refreshing. My big recommendation would be to have some English speaking TV stations!!! There were only two and both were world news. When it gets dark at 6PM it is nice to have something to watch as the rooms are very dark. My room was very clean and Ann went out of her way to help me set up a guide to go dolphin hunting. It was a great trip and we literally saw hundreds of bottle nose dolphins and great snorkeling. Having the right guide is the key which Ann at the front desk arranged for us!
There is a bar that stays open till everyone leaves (which is usually between 2 and 3AM) across the water and the bass from the techno dance music can make it hard to sleep. Another person in another part of the place told me they did not hear it though so apparently they sleep more sound than I or had a more quiet location. I would suggest bringing really good ear plugs just in case you are not a deep sleeper as well!
The town is really close so easy to walk to and Carolinas is great food. There are two stores to buy supplies and have a good selection. The fridge in my room kept the beer ice cold and the AC worked perfectly. They also have bikes which I found you have to be in shape to ride too far. I went too far, going seems easy, coming back was hard on the legs.
I was able to see dolphins from the town pier early in the morning which was a short walk away.

Caninas Jimenez was perfect! My husband and I stayed there for eight nights of our honeymoon, and I could not recommend a better place in Puerto Jimenez! The owner John is super relaxed and accommodating. He set us up with some of the best adventures we have had.. ever! The location is also amazing. We were a ten minute walk from the local super market, and no more than a ten minute bike ride from any other place we wanted to go. This was our first trip to Costa Rica, and when we return, we will certainly stay here!
