My brother and I took two beginner lessons with the awesome folks at Sunset Surf. They were super informative, organized, easy to communicate with, and so much FUN! They had a lot of patience and made our experience so enjoyable. We managed to ride a bunch of small to mid-size waves when we didn't really know what to expect going into it. Such an amazing accomplishment and rewarding family experience! I'm not sure when we'll be in Costa Rica next, but I hope we get the chance to surf with Sunset Surf in Dominical again!

I read the reviews of Sunset Surf before my trip to Dominical and this place did not disappoint! I spent 3 weeks in the town and took surf lessons at Dominical and Dominicalito. Jordy was the best instructor ever!! I had done a surf camp years ago but had been far less successful. I really felt like I learned a lot and I can’t say enough positive things about Sunset Surf and the level of instruction I received. The owner, Dylan Park, was extremely helpful in setting up all of my lessons. He always responded quickly and made arrangements for me. I know there are a lot of options when it comes to surfing in Dominical but my next trip I will definitely return to Sunset Surf.

I spent a week with Dylan and his crew as a solo traveler. I have attended other surf camps in other locations the last two years, so I definitely had some expectations going in. Those expectations were certainly met and exceeded. I have surfed before, so had a few areas that I wanted to focus on. Dylan, Flaco, & Caleb all helped me greatly to gain more confidence in my surfing and quickly pointed out some areas that they noticed to improve on. I had a great week working with them in the water and we got to surf a few different spots. Dylan made sure that I had everything that I needed at all times and that I was enjoying myself. He knows the area really well and was always able to offer up suggestions in town. I was able to go zip line, ride ATVs and see a reptile sanctuary..as well as have a great massage, all of which was arranged for me. I turned 36 on my last day there, and Dylan & his family (such a great family and the kids are hilarious :) ) took the time to make sure that I had a birthday that I would not forget. Even if you are looking for a day lesson, I would certainly recommend Sunset Surf. I definitely felt like I had made some new friends by the end of the week. Thank you!!! Hope to return in the future.

Dylan and his team are amazing teachers. I intended to try surfing once and then forget it. My mom wasn't interested in surfing at all as she was certain she was not coordinated enough.They promised my mom that they would have her up by the end of the first lesson--which they did! We "caught the surfing bug" and ended up going out with Flaco and Dylan as many times as we could fit in. Dylan creates such a great sense of community among the surfers. Can't wait to go back.

Thank you, sunset surf!!! We had the best time ever with you. We had a pretty tough start arriving with one day delay from Germany, but Dylan was very compassionate and made up for it immediately by calling us just upon arrival to invite us for spontaneous afternoon surf including the beautiful sunset in Dominical. We knew immediately that we landed at a beautiful spot with amazing people. Surfing itself was a great experience, as we felt so secure and in such good hands with the team that I am sure they make everyone a good surfer, as they really know how to adapt to each person individually. Big thanks also to the team, especially to Dylan and Flaco who really took care and was so fun surfing with.
We soaked up the sunset surf lifestyle and fell in love with the atmosphere, which was more than just surfing together, but also getting to meet Dylan’s incredibly nice family with his super cute kids. In the end it’s all about the people, and having said that, we are so thankful having spent our time with these amazing guys. Dylan possesses an authentic and intrinsic sense of hospitality that certainly only very few people have. We hope to see them again! Pura vida!response / report this review -

I'm in my 50's and took lessons for the first time in my life with Dylan at Sunset Surf in November. Over the course of the couple hour lesson, me and my friends were up on boards and loving our new sport. The process Sunset Surf put together made it easy to learn, and Dylan was extremely professional, patient and friendly. Dominical beach seems like a great place to learn but also terrific for a variety of levels. I can't wait to go back for more!

Dylan is an amazing instructor. Kind and very patient. Rode my first wave the first time out ! Loved every minute of my experience and highly recommend anyone who wants to learn how to surf to visit Sunset Surf!

Whether you're looking for one-day lessons or the total package, Sunset Surf has what you need. Dylan is passionate about everything he does - and goes over the top to give you a great experience. Of course this is reflected in everyone he works with - surf instructors, excursions, accommodationsDominical is a tight knit community where you'll feel comfortable and at home instantly, thanks to Dylan's hospitality. The surf instruction itself is top notch - I've seen and experienced a number of lessons, and Dylan and his staff really know their stuff. Frankly, this isn't unusual. The difference is, they are able to communicate exactly what it is you are doing right and wrong in ways you understand to either get you up and riding the first time or take your surfing to the next level.
I have many female friends who surf and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sunset Surf for a girls trip or entire family adventure because I know they'll be in great hands with Dylan. As for myself, can't wait to return.
