Good times.
We went to visit the place last Wednesday 21Feb, after planning a days trip, renting a boat and when we got to the dock we were not allowed to see the place by one of your female staff. She practically kicked us out saying that it is a private property and we were not allowed to be there.
I have seen pictures of this place and read comments so we decided to plan a days trip. There were 5 of us, friends from the 80's and we just wanted to see the place and have a few beers and see if we could spend some time there with our family or even recommend to a friends. The beach looks nice and the access, using your dock but you should train your staff upon welcoming visitors, or maybe future clients.
I would say NOT a friendly welcome.
Beautiful family-friendly hotel with a lot to do. Service is great and the staff is amiable. You'll never get bored here; it's a peaceful place, great to rediscover yourself and get lost in nature. Loved the book exchange idea.
Playa Nicuesa is the closest you will ever get to heaven on earth. The lush greens from the rainforest and the deep blue of the Pacific blended over a magical spot with great service and accommodations. The staff will go out of its way to help you and accommodate you.
I cannot praise them enough, it's been a life changing experience for us.
Simply amazing. Staff, food, surroundings. It goes on and on.
I just spent five wonderful days at Nicuesa Lodge with my 10 year old daughter. We took advantage of the morning guided tours to explore the area and to learn about the local flora and fauna. We were mesmerized by how many different species of animals and birds live here. In the afternoon, we relaxed by the beach and went to several yoga classes, which are set in the most amazing spot: overlooking the gulf and surrounded by the Rain Forest! Can’t get more Zen than that!
At Nicuesa Lodge, we stayed in the beautiful El Perezoso cabin. Rustic, yet very comfortable and so peaceful. At night, the rhythm of the waves breaking nearby rocked us to sleep — that is, until the Howler monkeys woke us up! This first time we were a little surprised, but then, their sound merged with all the other beautiful sounds coming from the Rain Forest. Of course, this being an eco resort, animals are king, we got used to having a lizard always on top of a wall in our bathroom instead of chasing him away. My daughter decide to name him Teddy. 7
The staff at Nicuesa Lodge was the best. Very kind to me and to my daughter — and to several other kids who were visiting from England and Germany. The staff was very knowledgeable about all the wildlife and always happy to help identify a new bird or anything we saw. They were always available; always helping us getting the kayaks or the paddle boards in the water; yet very discreet as well, which I really enjoyed. And everyone was so committed to making sure this resort was as eco friendly as can be.
Another thing I loved at the Nicuesa Lodge was the communal table. By having the meals in the communal room and table, guests got to spend time together (just enough) to know each other; to share stories or to inform one another of the best locations to spot some interesting creature. Meals were probably the only time we saw other guests at the resort in the afternoon, other than maybe yoga classes.
The privacy of the whole place was fantastic and being able to sit down all afternoon reading a book with occasional runs into the water was simply divine and certainly restful!
I would greatly recommend this place to anyone who has a very stressful lifestyle (yes, I did relax and “almost” forgot my job); for a nice romantic vacation or, like for me, simply a wonderful way to spent special and unforgettable time with my daughter. Wonderful people, fantastic spot! Go visit!
ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Heaven in Earth. Not just because you have a first hand access to nature, but because the hotel staff couldn't possibly be more friendly, open and helpful. They are proud of this place and that shows up all the time.
My husband and I came to Nicuesa for our honeymoon and stayed 9 days. We couldn't have been any happier (and not just because we were newly married!). This is truly heaven. We traveled in August and while every morning was filled with sunshine and some sunbathing, late afternoons we enjoyed spectacular rains from the coziness of the lodge, while sipping on excellent cocktails made with love by the very best bar guy ever! We were so filled with excitement every single day we were here. It was true nature, true retreat and true love. Now, if you hate snakes (which I am phobic of) you might rethink it - but DON'T! I saw many, all in the safe and wise guardianship of the exceptional staff. We have photos of beautiful (scary) snakes doing their thing. I never felt unsafe with them, not once. We took guided kayak trips and saw every kind of bird, dolphins, snakes, monkeys, turtles. My husband is an avid bird watcher, and counted more variety at once in the region than the entire rest of his bird watching days. His father is an ornithologist so this is not an exaggeration. For me, it was pure heaven. No TV, no air conditioning (not needed), no distractions. Just peace, nature and friendly faces from all over the world. We all sat at the same table for meals, and interacted deeply. Lifelong relationships were made! The meals were by far the most delicious we have ever eaten anywhere!!! We both put on 10lbs during our 9 days, be warned! It was so unbelievable, we couldn't stop. And let's not even skip the Costa Rican coffee! My husband, not a coffee drinker, became one as he fell in love sip by sip with the magic of this coffee. This is not a place for people who want to dance the night away in a club, or get their pedicure while reading People magazine. This is a place for those who love nature, great food, real people, excellent wines and cocktails, rich coffees, unbelievable staff, totally eco fabulous, and heaven. I can't recommend it more. You will feel pampered, spoiled and become a whole new person while you're there.
