Olas Verdes is the best place to stay in Playa Guionnes. Very moderately priced for the best amenities you will find in the area. Beautiful open layout villas, with very comfortable beds and A/C are surrounded by lush trees and very nice lighting. The pool is refreshing and well maintained like all of the grounds. Daily laundry service is included with your stay (huge benefit for travelers), they gave us free water bottles and nectar when we arrived, and a tour of the resort. There is a surf school right at the resort and it is the closest you will get to being on the beach with just a few minute walk through the protected beach vegetation until you are on one of Costa Rica's best beaches for beginner to advanced surfing and beauty/sunsets. We had beach fires almost every night, and it was extremely relaxing with hardly anyone out.
They have bicycles you can take anytime (included with your stay) to ride around the nice town and hit the restaurants and shopping areas, but the restaurant at Olas Verdes "El Manglar" is amazing, thanks to the very sweet chefs who make incredible dishes. Breakfast is included with your stay, but the lunch and dinner are amazing, and the bar is very clean and well-tended

Great hotel that is a short distance to the beach. Staff is wonderful and always smiling. :)

Others have already commented on how awesome this place is but wanted to bring up a few things.

    1. This is as close to the beach you’ll get since 200 ft from the beach is considered a protected area.

    2. It’s in the jungle, there will be bugs. All part of the charm.

    3. Only “issue” that I had was tipping the housekeeping staff. They wouldn’t take the money from the table and I usually had to track them down.

We visited in late September when there is rain but no crowds or dust.

The manager gave us a tour of the property explaining all the things that they did in order to achieve LEED platinum status. There were the expected solar panels, water cistern and native plantings but the part that impressed me most was the integration into the local economy. The hotel restaurant is owned by local women who get their produce from other local women. The food is very good and the staff very friendly and helpful.

The walk to the beach through the forest is maybe a hundred meters but feels like (and is) a tropical forest. The beach itself is pretty clean and deserves its reputation for great surf. Safari Surf provided excellent instruction. In short I had a blast.

The hotel itself is new and very nice. The staff is very hard working and obviously self motivated. The staff working the desk were all very helpful arranging activities, booking tuk-tuks and giving advice.

Absolutely loved staying at Olas Verdes. The reception and all the hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. The property is conveniently located near the beach with a short walk to the beach. All the rooms include refrigerators and dishes in case you want to bring your food to prepare and were very clean. The hotel has plenty of amenities to enjoy, for instance, bikes to borrow throughout the day, a convenient surf school/rental on site, delicious breakfast at the restaurant on site, and free laundry service. We were very happy with our stay here and would definitely book at Olas Verdes if we came back to Nosara.

Excellent service. Friendly staff and good fare. You don't need to be a hotel guest, Olas Verdes, to dine here. LEED Award 2016 winner!

Great hotel, a bit pricey but the amenities are very good! Location is superb, 5 min walk to the beach. The rooms are one bedrooms suites with large living room and floor to ceiling windows. Beautiful and well maintained grounds. Nice pool. Also has a surf school and restaurant on site.

The wifi does not work in our room at all. Also, the included breakfast was very disappointing. It's not buffet style, instead you order from a menu and you are only allowed to order 1 item/plate with NO sides at all. So if you want fruits or granola or yogurt, you will need to pay extra for that. A side of fruit plate is $6. The staff speaks English but very poorly, and the meal service was not good.

The cleaning crew came in while we were having breakfast and it was a bit surprising that they were still there while we returned. They moped the floor but either the cleaning solution they used or the mop smelled really funky and weird. And the floor was not very clean after the cleaning.

Great hotel that is only a 5 minute walk to the beach. Friendly staff, laundry service included, and beach cruisers to borrow. Restaurant on site, as well as surfboard rentals and lessons. Recommended.
