Great place.
This place offers a great natural experience.
Great place to stay in Drake. The cabins are good, and the common area is a really nice space where you can cook or just hang out. The best thing, in my opinion, is all the help and advices from the owner, she help us booking tomorrow, making trip arrangement, storing our luggage Everything is easy at Mohagine.
Oh! And there are Capuchin Monkeys, Hummingbirds, Toucans and lots of other birds visiting the common area.
1. This was probably the best check-in experience. She gave me all the information about how to arrive (by email before I arrived). On arrival, she served some lovely tea and told me all I needed to know. She also helped me arrange a few dives right there.
2. I was having some trouble with making the payment and she worked it all out patiently. Thank you for that. (The problem was my side and not hers)
3. I booked the tent and I couldn't believe that I had been bite by mosquitos only once. The tent has a mosquito net and it worked like magic. It was the rainy season so I was expecting a lot more mosquitos.
4. The staff at the place were very helpful and it was lovely chatting with them.
5. I loved the peace and the environment around the place so much that I extended my stay to a week.
(Finally, her dog is very very cute)
last year we spent two brilliant weeks in Drake Bay. We were able to get the first guests the great Cabina, which has a private bathroom and a toilet. The interior of cabina is spacious, made the furniture from wood of the region and the luxury of a refrigerator, we also have appreciated. Very convenient in the private terrace overlooking the jungle. The Cabina stands on a limited area with further 3 cabinas different design. All this is surrounded by a beautiful garden. The plants form a natural fence to the other houses, so you do not "peeps on the plate" directly. Between the cabanas is a washhouse with showers and toilets and a washing machine. The site is located above the beach about 250m, you walk comfortably along the road down to the beach, restaurants are nearby, shopping there is easy access to the village. Subdivision is the parque national Corcovado. The team of the Hotel mohagine can give great advice on what sights you should not miss. But a ride on the water taxi is a little sensation, one can observe macaws Black Vulture come the morning to the natural beach, hermit crabs cross the path. Iguanas and toads are also sufficient. Not to mention the whales watching in September. and other birds and butterflies. Overall, we were four weeks in Costa Rica and have the country crisscross traveled with a rented car. Drake Bay was between our homestation. And very especially in this region, tourism is still young.Pura vida !!!
This place is very idyllic and nice to stay at if you want your own little peace spot in the jungle area. The rooms are okay, materess wasnt the most comfortable and it gets very hot and humid at night (no AC), but that's part of the experience. You get your own bathroom. In the morning you can see monkeys eating right next to your room which was pretty cool. The owner Aurelio and his wife Anja are very friendly and helpful.
This is a really beautiful location. You live directly in the secondary rainforest. It was absolutly impressive to spend day and night in the jungle. The individual cabins are handcrafted by the owener Aurelio. No boring hotel atmosphere or touristic hell. Anja, the manager and Aurelios wife, speaks german, english and spanish. That fact makes the stay more enjoyable, because I don´t speak spanish. Right infront of the cabin I saw birds, flowers, frogs, orchids, fruits, there was heat and that incredible humidity (I love it!), also a few mosquitos, and idividual spiders, but seriously: who comes to the jungle and don´t want to see spiders??? Nobody! Aurelio and Anja are pleasant guides for all the things directly around the cabins and competent advisor for guided trips around Drake Bay like tours in the national park, diving and snorkeling, canopy and day trips to Sierpe. They take care for everything! Hope to come back one day ;-)
