Friendly staff, great bungalows and a very short walk from the beach. Good breakfast included. Dinner menu is good but rather expensive. Also had problems with ants in our room (mostly in bathroom). Located a fair distance from Santa Teresa along the very dusty road. Would book again.

My husband and I loved our stay at Makanas. The location could not be better as it is steps from a beautiful secluded beach and also close enough to town to enjoy all of the awesome restaurants. We loved the ambiance and seeing monkeys come right to the property! The bungalow we stayed in was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It was great to sit on the porch and relax! We can't wait to come back for our next visit.

Makanas provided me with by far my favorite traveling/vacation experience ever. First off., the affordability made it possible for my girlfriend and me (a couple of young, not very rich travelers) to stay at. The Bungalow was spotlessly clean with exceptional wifi connection (better than my apartment in the states) and featured a beautiful bathroom and an amazingly comfortable bed. The room was cleaned daily and the guest services were upper-echelon. Our routine consisted of sleeping in, getting a deliciously cooked breakfast with some strong (fuerte-fuerte) delicious costa-rican coffee, head the private beach right outside the bungalows with a couple of beers and enjoy the water, as we humbly took in this barely inhibited paradise. I will forever be grateful for Makanas and its amazing locality; it was the best part of my two-week vacation to Costa Rica.

Beautiful oasis tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Santa Teresa. Howler monkeys on the property, beautiful bungalows and steps away from the beach. We love Makanas and the area greatly!!

Makanas was the ideal location for our romantic Costa Rican getaway! Lourdes and Massimo went above and beyond to accommodate us during our week long stay. We felt at home in our adorable bungalow on the beautiful grounds, just footsteps from the beach. The food and drink menu items at Sloopy's (restaurant on premises) were fresh and delicious. The place had a wonderful atmosphere and would definitely recommend it! We were just a short walk away from daily yoga and some of the best surfing around. We're already planning our next trip back, and will be staying at Makanas.

Soo chill. Hidden off the road, not too close to the beach so no one is walking by, more than enough hammocks for everyone you bring with you to a sexy hidden spot like this!
