We ate here several times, lunches and dinners, while staying at the owners hotel, Cristal Azul. The food was amazing. We could not believe the quality, freshness and presentation that came out of a shipping container. It was Lonely Planet that brought us to San Miguel and it's no wonder they are listed as the #1 Beach Bar in Costa Rica. Don't expect dancing and drinks, think picnic tables, cold cold beers and really, really good fish and seafood. Best Ceviche we have had in our lives. Lobster and Shrimp were from heaven! Several days were spent at this gem of a spot where we met like minded travelers, enjoyed long walks on the most pristine beach we saw while in Costa Rica, ate till we had gills in the warm company of our hosts. Highly recommend eating here!!!!

Don't bother yourself to come here - the place seems to be closed whenever they want. We were standing infront of closed doors and so other people were told on other days that they have closed. Don't trust their homepage opening time - just look for different place. Really a pity !

This is one of those rare finds that seasoned travelers seek out. The setting was simple picnic tables under a canopy of shades right in front of the ocean and we quickly discovered that people were driving great distances just to spend the day camped out on large beach blankets. The food was amazing! Every dish is a Costa Rican beach favorite made with local ingredients, a true foodies delight! We have never enjoyed such freshness in a public setting and the care in preparation and presentation was evident. We ordered Henners Ceviche, the Fish tacos and the Special of the Day, Jumbo Shrimp on our first visit. It was all so so good; we returned every day until we left for more, and more, and more! Try the Calamari, you will never have it fried again! And the lobster tails, wow, a garlic lovers dream! What we really loved is that we could actually see the catch of the day coming in from local fisherman and a little later, bam, amazing ceviche was being served! It's that fresh! What made this place extra special for us apart from the simple beachfront setting and mouthwatering food? Henner and his wife Zeen are some of the kindest people we have met, they were born to be hosts. We chatted it up with them, learned about the area and it's history and so much in general about Costa Rican norms and customs. And they are fun, these are the type of people you meet when traveling that stay with you even long after you return home. Henner, a Costa Rican, is a wealth of knowledge, a true guide! Zene, an expat from Boston is a gem and clearly very at home in CR. Unlike other beach settings we visited, LocosCocos has that old world charm that gave us a glimpse into what beach life in Costa Rica must have been like long before the foreigners arrived. It screams Costa Rica, quietly! It was the whole Pura Vida package! We loved our time at LocosCocos so much, we have booked our return to Costa Rica in 2018 and will be spending a week with this amazing couple at their hotel, Cristal Azul. Hands down the nicest hotel in the area, (we have seen all four and stayed at their competition, trust us). We were misled by another establishment who told us Cristal Azul was closed and then they sent us to their friends place. (We felt duped, bad business practice) Overall, you can't go wrong if you let Henner and Zeen be your hosts and guides on this gorgeous beach! They made our stay in San Miguel unforgettable. We can't wait to see you guys in January! Keep living the dream! -Reyanna

Picturesque spot on the beach. Good, simple beach food and selection of cold beers. Kind and warm owner. We made a day trip from Santa Teresa and it was definitely worth the trip, the beach in front is beautiful and empty

A postcard-perfect spot for great seafood and drinks just off of Playa San Miguel. The fish is fresh, the beers are cold, and the owners (and their dogs) are friendly. A bit out of the way, but certainly worth the trip.

The fish filet was amazing. Beautiful place next to the beach with a wonderful owner. A haven after driving through the windy dusty roads for hours trying to find our rental. Family friendly, welcoming, and calming.

Amazing little spot right on the beach. The ceviche was some of the best I've ever had!! There was also a Chilero salsa that was homemade and passed down recipe from the owners grandmother at the tables. Turned out to be one of my favorite things that we ate in Costa Rica. It was so tasty. They have cold beer and friendly faces. We were staying at the Cristal Azul a nearby hotel. We enjoyed Locos Cocos a few times and everything that we ate was absolutely fantastic!!
