The beer is better than the Imperial lager but the strongest thing they have to offer is a 7% Stout and the beers are pricey.
Charming. Good food. Good beer. Good staff. Good guests. Fun place.
Really enjoyed our stay. Excellent wildlife - we saw monkeys, a possum, toucans. Staff was great and beer was very good, especially the pale ale.
Hotel is just ok. Rooms are pretty ugly and damp. The beer is mediocre and expensive, and they charge for every little thing (a cup of hot water for tea!?). View is nice, but not much to do as hotel is isolated. Best restaurant we found instead of eating at the hotel was “El fierro de mi tata,” which was excellent. I wouldn’t come back.
Amazing hotel. Super nice people, really spacious rooms, good service.
Spoiler: don’t step by just for a beer, and that is weird since you're looking for a famous brewery. Well, the beers are really good but the place was totally empty, the famous service open 24/7 was, well, closed. That means we couldn’t eat anything, and driving all that way to the top of the hill just for a beer might seem worthless. Nevertheless, if you really like tasty beers with strange flavours and great lake view, perhaps it’s just the place for you!
Great visit today. View was amazing. Beer and service were great.
Love this unique hotel and brewery. Unforgettable views and rooms along with food that will make you feel at home.
At one time this place was nice, that being said we came with a large group and there was no one to greet us, no one knew what was going on. If someone put some time and effort into cleaning and refurbishing this place it could be special. I tried all of their beer and it was all good if not great, but the service could be improved as well as the facilities.
Amazing view of the lake with craft beer brewed on site. What more can you ask for?
I visited the same hotel+brewery on Lake Arenal in 2012, when it was owned and operated by different people, and went by the name Volcano Brewing Company. The system is the same but the beers are different, on tap at the bar and restaurant were four true beers (Saison, Dunkel, Stout, Pale Ale) of average quality, and two false beers (Pineapple Gold and a Chile beer) of poor quality.
Great view of Arenal Lake from the bar/restaurant as well as applicable rooms. Friendly owners/staff and a nice variety of beers. Definitely worth a visit for a beer if you're passing through the area!
We didn't stay, just had some beers. A flight of all the beers is 1000 colones and each one is 1000, great prices. I have the stout and my hubby had the dunkel. They server them with glasses from the freezer, awesome touch. Would come back to eat for sure just to have something acompany the beer ;)
Amazing find on the road from Arenal. The family and staff that run it are amazing as well. Definitely the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Try the Public Service IPA, it's the best beer in Central America!
We made this a pit stop on the way to Arenal Volcano, and it was a highlight of the trip. After a few days of drinking Imperial and other bad local swill, the beers tasted divine. I especially liked the dunkel and the pale ale. Good appetizers too. We liked it enough to want to come and spend the night. The pool and setting looked inviting. Instead, we had to drive on -- with one of us refraining from the great beers to navigate and survive the crazy road around the lake.
