Sign up for their horseback ride, lunch and waterfall hike (all in one). Gourmet food on the mountain with chef Nick. We went behind and in the waterfall. Mikey is a great person who is still with us for a reason. Trip will improve your life!

La Gavilana is a great place, run by wonderful people. The food is great, Tomas and Hannah and their son, Noah, are a beautiful family and Anita is super helpful. We stayed at the house across the street, which they manage, and they could not have been better hosts. Make sure they hook you up with Mikey--the best guide ever! His horseback/waterfall day was a peak experience and he was so helpful in so many ways. We feel very fortunate to be part of the La Gavilana family--even for just a few days--and we hope to come back soon!

WOW! I am beaming after a fantastic, adventurous and restorative trip to El Castillo thanks to Thomas, Hannah, Noah, Anna, Mikey and Nick at La Gavilana. It included delicious homemade drinks, hot sauce and food, beautiful artwork, and a jaw dropping trip to base camp on horseback complete with majestic waterfalls, sights and smells. Thanks so much for a hassle free, hyper-local experience in Costa Rica! I'll be back!!

Tomas and Hanna are great. We stayed at one of the airbnbs they managed and stopped by for breakfast one morning. Tomas took us some amazing food - we bought a bottle of their home made chilli sauce that we liked so much. Our kids had a great time playing with their son. Overall we highly recommend this place.

Tomas and his wife, Hannah, are the owners of this extremely cute cafe-art gallery-boutique store.

The bread they make is a working in progress that changes every day but is fresh and extremely delicious. Tomas seems to the cook of the establishment and is also the creator of the store's hot sauce. I bought a bottle of this because it was delicious with their fresh bread, which I was addicted to.

Hannah is the artist of the store and has beautiful paintings that reflect their simple living in El Castillo.

Tomas manages a few properties around the area handling their AirBNB guests and bookings. That's who we came to know the area and their store. Truly nice folks and would love to visit them the next time I am in La Fortuna.
