This place is not as good as the pictures make it look. We found it to be very run down. Our room had 2 of the 4 light bulbs burned out, NO blanket on the beds at all, no hanging space for clothes, a very run down bathroom and shower, screens with holes, and the entire door had a gap for critters to crawl through at will. Staff was friendly, good beach access but not a very nice beach. Pool was good. I would NOT re-stay here for sure.

Best for the money and location on Jaco Beach I've been coming here for years.before the new autopista was built it took almost 3 hours by mountain roads now its on 1 hour 15 minutesat their sister Hotel Del Rey.22 years ago I met my wife Eilyn theirtoday I spend my time with my girlfriend's at John and Gabriel's South Beach HotelI love you people in Costa Rica I have 3 Costa Rica children and we love Jaco Beachthe breakfast buffet is excellent, included in the price, the Beach is right theredown the street is the night life for all.. plenty to do to keep the kids happy too. Wonderful beach front hotel. Rooms tucked back into foilage and very quiet. Pool and bar is great as well as the employees are super. I will definitely go back and stay there.Dont forget to tip your servers!

Right on the beach with pool and lots of ornamental vegetation. Quaint rooms with a/c. I keep going back. Love the low key atmosphere. Accomodating staff.

Small hotel, I enjoyed the privacy of the rooms and direct access to the beach. The beach bar is great, right between the pool and beach access. I was there during a Costa Rica summer break and the occupation was fairly high with families. This hotel also allows bringing in you dog. Not a walking distance from the main street so be prepared to go back and forth on taxi, people at the from desk can arrange transportation at any time.

My wife picked and it turned out to be an excellent choice. I gave it 5 stars for executing really well as a rustic beach hotel. The positives include an excellent location on the southern end of the beach in Jaco, which is less rocky, quieter, and less congested. The hotel grounds are beautiful, seemingly cut out of a tropical garden. The hotel staff was simply outstanding - very helpful and polite - most all spoke at least a functional level of English. The food in the restaurant was among the best, if not the best we had during our stay in Costa Rica. There are bars at either end of the pool, which was nice given its size. It opens right out onto the beach, so the views are great. Very few negatives here - the plumbing (drains backed up and bubbled occasionally). The rooms were however clean and otherwise pretty well kept. The only other warning I would keep in mind is that not all of the cab drivers in town know the hotel by it's new name (South Beach), so be prepared to ask for "Hotel Arenal Pacifico" when you arrive.
