Nice to stay if you plan to go to the airport. Cheap and good value for money and breakfast included. Staff is nice and kind. A bit noisy but it is in the center

Alejuela can be daunting for a traveler unfamiliar with the culture of cities in Costa Rica. The Santamaria staff was very friendly and accommodating. For the money, this hotel is incredibly safe and friendly. They provide simple accommodations, a delightful courtyard, and a free delicious fresh fruit, toast and coffee breakfast. Jorge spoke fluent English and tipped us off to many great places to see. We besically restructured our entire plan based on his advice, and I'm so glad we did! Our trip was substantially better for it.

Great location, only a $7US taxi ride from the airport and a couple blocks from bus stations to poas volcano or la fortuna. Plus, it's half a block from the giant "alajuela" letters so it's easier to find your way back if you go walk around. Room was clean and the staff were very nice. Breakfast was toast & fruit, so you may want to pack some granola or protein bars.

Clean rooms, helpful front desk, beautiful quiet back patio for small complimentary breakfast. Thin walls but good strong fan in the room that covers sound and keeps you cooler when sleeping. Showers lack water pressure because if you turn it up too high the water doesn't have time to heat in the pipe. Overall a great stay, and location is unbeatable (next to park and between two major bus terminals only a few blocks in each direction).

Rooms have very thin walls, you will hear other guests using the shower/toilet. Breakfast is two slices of toast and three pieces of fruit. Location is good for the airport and several options for food a medium walk away.
