Love this place. Comfortable rooms. Affordable prices. Management was amazing. The food at the restaurant is excellent, ESPECIALLY the pizza! Highly recommended

We did not stay at the hotel but dined at the restaurant for lunch. Had delicious kombucha on tap and then enjoyed a couple of lovely vegetarian and no dairy plates!

The real draw of this place is Page, the lovely owner, who recommended us to a slew of things to do while in Manuel Antonio. She planned our whole Wednesday . Can't speak highly enough of her and her staff!

What a wonderful stay we have had here! We had big plans to travel all over Costa Rica and haven't been able to pull ourselves away from Hotel Mono Azul since we got here. Paige and John gave been terrific in helping us plan all of our adventures like our trip to Nauyuca falls, El Santuario Zip lining, Villa Vanilla Spice Tour, Yoga with Kelsey and so much more. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The food, friendly people at the bar/ restaurant and staff were icing on the cake. We highly recommend this place!

We spent 4 days at Mono Azul and a great experience! Outstanding restaurant and bar staff - and Paige and John are excellent hosts. Great recommendations on activities. The rooms are a work in progress with very good AC and comfortable. Don't forget to try the Mono Margarita!

We spent Xmas here and really enjoyed the experience. As soon as we arrived the owner John grabbed a flashlight so he could show my son the sloth that was sleeping above the pool. They've got a really nice restaurant there as well.

5 stars all around! The best part about the Blue Monkey are the people that work there and own it. They went above and beyond to make sure we had amazing time. The bar is a great place to get drinks to! Say hi to Scotty!

Cute little dive hotel, restaurant and bar. If you're on a budget it's probably a decent place to stay. Really tiny swimming pools, but enough for you to cool off in, which you'll need cuz it's hella hot and humid here. We ate at the restaurant but looked around the grounds a while when I was here. Has done near stuff. Pools, game room (billiards), cabana hut, big restaurant/bar. Like any dive bar. Decent drinks, average food. Amazing views and right in the raid forest! Could be a fun stay if you're not looking for typical resort amenities and want to get a sense of locals in real life. It's also very close to the rain forest, which had tons of great stuff to do.

The owners are amazing. Truly. John and Paige are super friendly and very knowledgeable. And if you don't find them sublime, Mono Azul has the cutest cat. He is really the star if the place. I highly recommend Mono Azul. The place is fabulous.

Generally mediocre. Just nothing special, and there are nicer places in Manuel Antonio for around the same price. They were generous enough to offer us a second room for a reasonable price so that our family of 5 could be accommodated more comfortably. Nice folks run the place. Another reviewer said that it felt homey -- he's right. If you like that, you'll find it here. If not, consider another hotel.

First, let me say that this is not my typical 5 star review. The Blue Monkey (Mono Azul in Spanish) is not the Marriott. It is a small, quaint, open, temporary abode with monkeys, sloths and toucans, where you will wander down a sloping sidewalk to the lower level rooms, or meander by the second pool to another set of sleepers.

The bar is adequate, with cold beer, margaritas, and a super-friendly staff that hopped-to-it when we asked for something. Surprisingly, they also had a restaurant! I admit, I would hope for more local food, but it appears the American market here wants American food, and are ably accommodated. The best part was how we brought back our catch and the kitchen cooked it several different ways for us! Whole fried snapper, ceviche, seared tuna.oh, yum!

They have two pools and a pool table to entertain yourself while onsite. I think there was a TV in my room, but we never turned it on. It was more fun to sit in the bar and talk to John, the owner, and watch what was going on outside. John was also kind enough to take me to the bank for change when we got in, and nothing was a bother to any staff.

Get a room with A/C if you go in the North American winter time, because it is HOT down there! Rooms are nothing special, but were clean and neat. Water temps in the shower can fluctuate and the curtains are thin.

Yes, this is a small, quaint place. If, like us, that's what you like, you should also call it "home".
