Off the beaten path. Quite literally. Rooms are nice and big and clean. The breakfast is amazing. Better French toast than my mom, but don't tell her I said that.

Wonderful place. Breakfast is very nice, staff was helpful and the view from the room is beautiful! You can even see the sunset from the room balcony!

I loved it here. Most calm resort/hotel I stayed in while in costa rica. The staff are amazing. It's ran by a very nice young couple who help you with whatever you need:)

The cheese sandwich is scrumptious.. and is made with local ingredients and from.scratch, by hand.

Ernesto, at reception desk/manager and Yoselin, his assistant, are very kind and welcoming. Their friendliness and help with tour activities and taxis is a real plus. It is quiet and a welcome respite from town.response / report this review -

This place was awesome! I regret calling them directly to book a room because now I can't leave a review on hotel websites to give them the props they deserve.
The pros:
This place is very quiet and peaceful. At night all you can hear is the sound of crickets and cows softly munching on the grass in a properly next door. It's very much located in a countryside setting.
The first night in Monteverde, my girlfriend and I stayed in the town center and it was awful. Loud music playing at night, we couldn't go sleep, even with earplugs on. I asked a few taxi drivers about the noise and they all said the same thing, it's noisy in and around the town center.
I highly recommend you stay away from the town center unless you want to stay up late and live the nightlife.
This place was recently opened in March of 2016, so everything about it is fairly new. The place looks great, everything is made of wood.
They also have yellow lights! This is a minor detail, but I don't like the blue harsh office type lights that all other hotels we stayed at had. The yellow lights really gave it a nice and cozy feel rather than that garage like feel from bright white lights.
The bathroom was way better than other hotels we stayed at. The sink actually had warm water. Again, many of the other (cheaper) hotels we stayed at did not have hot water in the sink. I was surprised by bathtub itself since it was pretty large and elegant; it seemed like something you
would find in a more upscale hotel in the USA.
There's a ton more pros that I could write about, but then the review would be really long.
Cons:
Spotty wifi. The wifi only worked the first day we arrived and then stopped working. However, the wifi inside the reception building works and if you ask the receptionist, Ernesto, I'm sure he will glad to help you connect to the internet. This was a minor issue for me and my girlfriend since we came to enjoy the countryside and not be glued on our electronic devices. The place does have cable TV, so that helps.
Cost of traveling to and from the hotel. Since it's 15 minutes away from the town center, we had to grab a taxi. The taxi charge 4,000 colones as of the time of this writing, which is about $7.25 US dollars. So about $15 a day.
Also, a lot of the tours don't pass through this hotel since it's kinda out of the way. This means having to grab a taxi to go to the town center or another hotel where the tour transport can pick you up. This place was amazing and the most comfortable place we stayed at, the taxi costs are completely worth it.
Final words: Stay here if you are looking for a beautiful, comfortable, countryside experience and don't mind the extra expenses that come with having to take a taxi into the town center.response / report this review -

Small hotel, excellent service and very frendly staff. Ernesto, manager, was very helpfull arranging tours and taxi service. Close to many things to do. Quiet location offers splendid sunset vista.
