Good food served quickly. Was very quiet so lacked atmosphere but staff were super friendly.

Excellent food and great service from the entire staff. We ate here every night for 7 days. They took a picture with us the final night. Great Sangria. Loved the Spicy Rice Noodle Salad, Samosas, Ahi Tuna, Potstickers, and the Pavlova dessert.

Great location awesome food with lots of flavour! Try the seafood boil. You will want to order 4 or 5 tapas to share between two people if it is dinner. And the desserts????! Try the Pavlova you will love it! Merci!

We dined at Ginger two times in the same week. Both times the food was excellent. The plates are smaller, so you'll likely need to order at least two per person. We ordered ten plates for a table of four which was sufficient, and delicious. The drinks were also very well made. The dessert was also spectacular! Our first waiter, Jorge, was one of the best waiters I have ever had. He was personal, professional, and a joy to have as our waiter. The dinning was open air/outside, so bug spray is recommended. Reservations in advance is also recommended.

Excellent food, excellent service. This is a gem of a restaurant. The best in the region in my opinion. Some of the dishes are world-class. My favorites were the Filet Mignon and Samosa dishes, my wife and son loved the Mongolian Ribs (very fatty), and my wife enjoyed all the fish dish. The staff make you feel welcome. The second time we visited they remembered us. It is a little pricey compared to region, as long as you're not expecting local prices you'll leave full and happy. The restaurant is up in the trees, with an open and airy steel structure. It can get busy, because it is very good. The night before we arrived 100 people arrived between 7-8PM, so there was a wait. If you arrive when they open at 5PM or by 6PM, you do not need a reservation. If you arrive after 7PM I'd recommend a reservation.

I've been here almost a month and I've been hoping for a great restaurant to dine in. Most all of them have failed miserably.. Ginger was a pleasant surprise and a welcome change to the many restaurants we have tried in the area and have been sadly disappointed with. Don't look any further; you will find great food and a great ambiance at Ginger. Service was somewhat lacking however and more focus needs to be paid in that area. Wine prices are from what steep so bring your own, however corkage charges hover around $20 US. We were told $15 on the telephone however a $10 corkage charge would suffice. Overall a great find and not to be missed.

I was back again to Ginger Restaurant during my last stay in Playa Hermosa and they have recently changed their menu in the last couple of months. The old menu which remains is still stellar, including the spring rolls (crispy and not oily), the Dorado (also crispy and hot and delicious!), plus of course the crispy calamari (are you noticing a theme??). But the new menu includes a simple yet elegant tuna poke salad with layered Asian flavors. It was truly one of my favorites. Add to that the Asian-Cajun seafood boil which was OUTSTANDING, but spicy if that matters to you. I loved it. By the way, the Asian tacos, which are not new, are terrific as well. When I am in town I eat at Ginger frequently and, I tend to eat a lot. It is really good food and great service as well.

Beautiful setting. Reasonable prices for gourmet tapas. Probably the fanciest restaurant in Guanacaste, but you really don't have to dress or worry about the price.

Jorge our server was great. Lovely tapas beer and a very pretty patio/balcony. Avoid the french fries and order extra tuna instead!

This place is tapas style - but with Costa Rica sizes (do decent size). The quality was really great and the staff served us well. Tourist prices expected - but reasonable tourist pricing.

Absolutely fabulous! Everything about this place is wonderful! From the quaint, friendly atmosphere to the refreshing hand crafted drinks and mouth watering food, this little slice of heaven within paradise was one of the highlights of our vacation. We had the benefit of dining with a large group so was able to try a large number of small plates. Every single one was flavorful and delicious. If you visit Costa Rica, but this place on your must visit list!!

This place is amazing. The food, which is all small plate, is fabulous. I wish e could have ordered everything. The only down fall was the fact that they changed their Old Fashion recipe. Now it's more of a Manhattan.

Very Expensive for starters onlyin Costa Rica.
You're supposed to share every plate. And it's so small I am not used to such little amount of food. It was delicious though
I would recommend only for a quick appetite. DON'T GO IF YOU ARE STARVING!

Great food, great atmosphere, you can't go wrong here! 11 of us eat here for dinner and the tapas, small plates, were a perfect way for everyone to enjoy the delicious food! If you are in Playa Hermosa you have to stop here for at least one dinner.

Pricey but worth it. five star food and service at a unique Restaurant setting and building. Many of the cooks and waiters have been around for many years so they know what they are doing and will remember you when you come back. Consistently full even in the low season. Will not disappoint.

Whenever I travel, I always consult Google and Tripadvisor reviews before deciding on where to dine. Ginger Restaurant was well rated and I decided to give it a shot.

The atmosphere is really nice if you sit on the outside area. In the inside by the kitchen and bar it gets a bit noisy and chaotic.

During busy season, make sure you get reservations beforehand if you choose to visit. I saw many groups come to the door and told that they were full for the night.

The staff are good and speak English well. However, when the place is full, you likely will be looking around for them since they are very understaffed. I was sitting by the ordering system and noticed many a times the staff in chaos trying to put in orders, creating the check, requesting drinks from the bartender. Also note that the wait for food will be long if it's busy so be patient.

Now the most important part, the food. The menu I saw at the restaurant was slightly different from the one on the website but that wasn't a big deal. I am a vegetarian and i liked that they had a lot of options. I ordered the mango gazpacho, vegetarian potstickers and the portobello crostini. The gazpacho was alright. It tasted like a gazpacho but aside from the color, not sure where mango came into the name. The potstickers were burned and after a few bites I had enough. The crostini was not bad. It may have been better though if the portebello was chopped up instead of a large piece sitting on the bread. I considered dessert but I didn't want to wait 20 minutes waiting for it so I called it a night.

Whoa. We managed to sneak a table earlier in the evening without a reservation. (Highly recommend thateven in "low" tourist season they were busy!) Drinks were amazing, and nearly every small plate we tried was fabulous. The servers were so attentive and great. It's weird to see only ex-pat Americans eating here, but maybe it's because the vibe is urban, expensive and super-posh? For a one-night experience, it was excellent.
