We did the combination discover freediving and discover spearfishing in one day (AM freediving, PM spearfishing). There was a also an option to spread it over two days, but a single day worked better for us given we were staying kind of far away. Arranging the day over email was painless and responses were quick.
It was a really fun day, and a unique experience. None of us had ever tried freediving or spearfishing before, but Gauthier made it really easy to get started. Spearfishing was really the highlight for us, but the more comfortable you are with freediving, the more fun you'll have spearfishing. So definitely get that practice in and learn how to relax under water (holding your breath was not the hard part for us, relaxing was). Gauthier knew a good quiet spot with lots of fish, and we were able to snag a few despite being first timers.
Our hotel was able to cook up our catch that night for dinner, which was a really satisfying way to end the day. I'd definitely do it again.
Me and my girlfriend did the freediving level 1 course. It is expensive(!) and you might wanna do a dicover freediving thing first to see if it is for you first.
It was alot more challenging than i thought it would be, but dont be discuraged. I think everyone can at least try it. And you learn some fun and interesting stuff.
The instructor was very good, helpfull and friendly. We felt safe the whole time, and he had a nice attitude about the whole thing. He is the holder of the belgium freediving record, which impressed me alot (I think he could dive to 80 meters). And so very moddest about it. You had to question him about it for 30 minutes to drag it out of him :)
