So cute! Great vibe, great value. We got a private bedroom with 2 beds every night for such a great price! It’s right in town so it’s easy to go back and forth to places, there’s hammocks and free pancake breakfast every morning until 11! So you can sleep in and take your time.

This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a laid back vibe and to meet other travellers. It is in a great location and is nice a clean. The shared kitchen with pancakes and homemade ginger syrup are awesome! I added fruit, nuts and chocolate to my pancakes to make them more substantial. Elena is also wonderful!

This hostel is by far the best place to stay in Montezuma! A great atmosphere, clean rooms, a kitchen where you can cook like you are home. Elena, the owner, is amazing and so helpfull! We stayed much langer than expected and if we have a chance.. We will go back!

A bit more on the rustic side, but clean with all the basics and then some. Elena is so helpful and friendly; she truly is one of the best hostel owners out there.

I love this hostel! It's located right in the centre of beautiful Montezuma, and great value for money, with a free pancake breakfast. The owner Elena has done an amazing job of creating a chilled and happy vibe within the hostel, and the well set up common areas make it easy to meet other travellers. We will definitely be back for another visit, and highly recommend!

Pancakes, Pancakes, Pancakes.. every morning! I can't say enough about Downtown Montezuma Hostel.. I return here every year and always enjoy my stay. It is located in the center of all that Montezuma has to offer. Elana and staff are available to assist your travel needs. This is a safe open hostel, you can hang out and meet people from all over the world don't miss the sunrise and enjoy your stay!!

Thanks for an unforgettable vacation! boisterous, beautiful & colorful place on a gorgeous beach. I took the shared dorm and was pleasantly surprised by the upkeep. Friendly people & staff, animal friendly and fairly central. Highly recommended! Will def come back!

Very cheap hostel, yet not in terms of pricing
Bathrooms and toilets are in the same tiny room with no air flow. Only one bathroom for all the upper area. Rooms are tiny dark and not very clean. No sun light nor air flow. Walls are super slim and you hear basically everything that happens in the entire hostel.
Hamacs in the common area are falling to pieces..
Probably the worst hostel we stayed in Costa Rica.response / report this review -

The public area is nice. But the private room is too small, and the air inside can't move. It's too hot to take nap in afternoon.

The room, dorm 3 wasn't very cool with the single fan and outlets were lacking. The real negative though was a consistent damp, dank smell that would waft through the room consistently. Nice location and friendly people abound, overall felt safe and had a good start but they definitely need to fix the smell problem.

I'll go straight to the point no air conditioning, we were in the private room and the struggle was real. But the people made it worthwhile. There is a bar restaurant place not far for people that like to party
