Friendly staff and close to the beach but dont be surprised when you find roaches in your rooms

Amazing grounds, beautiful beaches in walking distance. Only downfall was lack of places to eat in the area and no food provided on site. There is a kitchen to prepare your own food though and the store is a short walk away.

What an incredibly magical place!! I spent 8 days here, stayed in gorgeous Long Dream House we had a big group for a wedding on the beach so we occupied all the eco lodges and had a fantastic time. I spent hours in the hammock watching the howler monkeys in the jungle canopy above.
The plants, flowers and foliage around each bungalow were unbelievable as Dan the owner is a horticulturist. The beach is utterly stunning, one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. The property is well situated next to Manzanilla which you can walk on the beach to get to.
The staff are lovely and keep those incredible wood floors sparkling and even laundry is done for you. The bungalows have everything you need to enjoy a wonderful experience.
If you love being submerged in nature I highly recommend Congo Bongo as there is no place quite like it!response / report this review -

I still dream about my stay at the Long House at Congo Bongo - my dream is to make it back ASAP!
Nothing beats the sound of the Howler Monkeys and Toucans over your head while swaying in one of the hammocks or lounging in bed. The property is so private and secluded while being just a stone's throw away from others. The walk to the beach seemed a little different each day and seeing the Sloths hanging off the branches as you walk along is quite an experience.
I would recommend any of the houses at Congo Bongo to anyone wanting to have a true Costa Rican jungle experience!response / report this review -

We stayed at the Long House which is the first house that you arrive at we you drive in Congo Bongo. We were greeted by a very nice lady that welcomed us to the Long House and showed us the way around the place. I just thought the place a excellent, I usually think that it doesn't look like the pictures but this place look every bit as good as the pictures. The wood beams as post structure, down to the nice table made out of a very big heavy slab of wood. Just the work put in to stain and protect all the wood makes it feel very clean and look so nice. I thought it would not long before the bugs came out at dark but almost no bugs. The first morning we walked into Manzanillo to eat breakfast at Soda Restaurant. I had the ham, egg, and cheese sandwich. It's was a good sandwich and big Raymond was friendly with the service. We walked by the road on the way to town so we walked the beach back to Congo Bongo. At the entrance to Congo Bongo at the beach it had three little shady areas built with split bamboo. It also had a Congo Bongo sign on the beach. All we had to do is follow the trail back toward the road to reach the Long House. After we were lazy for while we decided to go back to the beach and swim. The staff was so nice, Dan's wife Marisol was so nice that you felt so welcome to be at Congo Bongo. It want be long before we go back to this slice of paradise! I will be writing more soon but can't wait to back!

I absolutely love Congo Bongo Eco Lodges. In fact, I have been there more than once. The attention to detail is amazing. The grounds are kept looking beautiful while keeping the wildness. The owner and staff are courteous and very helpful with suggestions for activities and dining. If you want an experience that is not run of the mill go here!
