I'm biased since I've been drinking their coffee thanks to Texas coffee traders, but this still is an absolutely amazing tour. It's about the coffee but more importantly about the entire community it takes to make coffee from start to finish. The discussion about coffee even converted at least one person in our group to a coffee drinker.
A great project they have going on here aiming to be as sustainable as possible, so feels worthwhile contributing through a visit. Plus the coffee tasting at the end is amazing! The walk through the beautiful plantation is also great to understand the different varieties and conditions affecting the taste and size of harvest.
Only minus point was that our guide, Sergio, had a strange way of explaining their methods by asking us questions felt a little like a school quiz
Daniel’s session at the beginning was brilliant to help us understand the size and contributors to the project.
Highly recommended over all!
Excellent and very interesting tour by our passionate guide a worker from the plantation. You will learn everything about coffee and you finish the visit by tasting different ones.
Eco tour! Gleeson (guide) spending in describing how they are becoming organic. Coffee was very good
He educated us how to pick sash and roast the coffee
This tour was very educational and very interesting. Our guide, Gerson, taught us about Costa Rica, about how Cafe Monteverde is doing so much to grow coffee in a sustainable way and about different ways to produce different type of Arabica coffee.
Our tour was very insightful and it was great to learn more about coffee farming in the region. Visiting Cafe Monteverde added that little extra to our vacation, I can only strongly recommend it.
This is where we purchase our coffer beans in Costa Rica. Excellent quality! Take the tour and walk the beautiful fields of coffee plants! Enjoy the tasting and learn the nuances of coffee roasting and brewing.
I loved my experience here. The guide was super friendly and super knowledgeable about coffee. He is a coffee farmer first and a guide second.
I thought I knew a lot about coffee before this tour but after taking this tour I realize there is so much to learn! We did a coffee tasting at the end of the tour and my husband and I enjoyed them so much we bought bags of all 5 blends! Its a sustainable farm and they have so much attention to detail. Definitely choose this tour and invest in this wonderful operation!
Super tour of the coffee process, tasting of the products. Great price for local produced coffee.
Our excellent guide was utterly charming and very informative. We learned a lot and had a great time. The perfect mix of education and fun. And some damn good coffee to take back home with us too. Breadcrumb the dog is an absolute legend. I defy anyone not to have a great time.
Best guided tour of anything I've ever had! The guide was charming and entertaining as well as very honest about his opinions on ethics of farming etc. The goats were a highlight for me, so cute. So many lovely animals around, beautiful scenery, really cool to have a go at picking the coffee beans. Our guide really pushed us to actually learn as well as have a good time!
If you're planning a coffee tour in monteverde, THIS IS THE ONE!!
If you love coffee, or just like to see "how things are made", this is a tour for you. They will show you all stages of coffee production, from germinating the seeds, to picking berries, shelling, drying, roasting. At the end you will be rewarded with coffee tasting.
They are very family friendly and we (with kids ages 2 and 5) got a separate guide so that we could take the tour at our pace.
If you want to learn (and tasting) about coffee and sustainability this is the experience that you need.
This was very informative & inspiring as to sustainability. Our guide, Sergio, was wonderful. Not only did we learn about coffee, we saw lots of animals, both domesticated & wild. I highly recommend the Cafe Monteverde tour.
