Incredible little piece of paradise! Great place to really rest surrounded by nature. Delicious food and the staff were really nice to us. If you are looking for a lovely getaway for two, this is the best place in the Buritaca area!

I have very fond memories of my stay at Merecumbe resort! It is idyllically situated on a dark sand beach in Tayrona park. Accommodations are private cabins, each with a small private terrace. It's in the jungle but everything has been landscaped to provide comfort and privacy. Adjunct to the cabin is an "outdoor" bathroom which just means it's not completely covered and screened like the cabins. It gives you a feeling of showering outside, which is wonderful. Dozens and dozens of hummingbirds live in the trees and flowers surrounding the cabins. I've never seen anything like it. The grounds are a mix of landscaped beach and the main restaurant building, which serves delicious healthy Colombian dishes and incredible fruit juices. On the beach are well-shaded areas with hammocks and beach chairs. The sea is rough, I wouldn't advise swimming, but one can walk for hours in total isolation. My stay was one of the most restful and peaceful weeks of my life. When I went, Merecumbe billed itself as a luxury eco resort, which meant there was no AC, no hot water, and no pool. Somehow, this worked out well. A large fan in the cabin and fully screened open windows allowed us to sleep comfortably, and given the region's climate, I would never have wanted hot water on my body. The staff was kind and discrete. To too it off, they serve the most incredible passion fruit mojitos. I plan on returning one day.

Great hotel and charming place to stay near Santa Marta. We had a very good time there, the restaurant was simply great with a menu that changes everyday: simple, fresh and tasty food ! I also loved the massage with Francesca, highly recommended !

Beautiful setting and the staff is amazingly nice. The food is also incredible. I think a pool and air conditioned rooms would make this place even better.

Excelente Hotel , La comida, las habitaciones, el servicio Espectacular !! Lo recomiendo altamente . Ambiente de paz y relajación , tres días es suficiente. Cerca al los rios de la Sierra Nevada. El Mar es imposible , pero con playa grande y limpia

Es un lugar ecológico muy encantador, lejos del ruido de la ciudad; donde el canto de las aves te despiertan para disfrutar de la naturaleza muy verde, llena de coloridas mariposas y una comida exquisita no dejes de probar el batido de etelbina que me enamoro desde que llegue😍😍😍😍

WARNING! DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL / AVISO! NO TE QUEDES EN ESTE HOTEL
I made a booking with the Merecumbe in March for two nights in August. Due to circumstances beyond my control I have had to cancel the booking.
I had paid $350 USD (cost of one night) as a deposit and had expected a full refund (or perhaps at worst having to pay a small administrative fee). Making the cancellation four months in advance should cause no harm to any hotel, especially as the booking was in peak time at August.
However, the Merecumbe have refused to refund me and instead have quoted their policy (in accordance with the booking website) that they do not give refunds. I tried to negotiate with the owner that this is grossly unfair but received several arrogant dismissive replies.
Essentially the Merecumbe have hid behind policy to rob me of $350 USD. Any decent hotel that actually cared about its customers and making a good name for itself would have refunded me the amount in full immediately.
So please think twice before booking a stay at this hotel as if circumstances change unexpectedly, you could find yourself in the same position as I am. It saddens me that there are people who will happily take advantage of the misfortune of others.
I have several friends in Colombia who live in the region and they state that there are several other hotels close by which are all far superior than the Merecumbe. These are the Gitana del Mar, Playa Koralia and the Rancho Relaxo.
