Words cannot express the gratitude I have for the hotel, Juan Pablo Estrada and the entire team! My wedding was LITERALLY a fairy tale dream! I live abroad in the US and although wedding planning is a stressful process, once I arrived in Cartagena a week before our big day, the Sofitel made the process as easy as possible. Juan Pablo was kind enough to plan our food tasting the week of the wedding since we were not able to travel before- my parents, husband and I were floored by how delicious the entire spread was! With an elegant buffet option we were able to cater to all different tastes and ensure everyone was happy and full! My bridal suite was romantic and the hotel was hands on all day for all requests. Lastly, the service at the reception was impeccable! All the guest felt so well taken care of, thank you so much Sofitel Santa Clara!

Crazy hotel. Didn’t get to sleep there but wow it’s beautiful. We got there at 6pm and it’s at around that time they lighted up all the candles but it was such a big thing! We had a drink at the bar and it was my best cocktail in Colombia!! I had something with passion fruit and a slight taste of licorice or so

Definitely is probably one of the most exclusive hotels in Colombia. The food in the pool is just great, expensive but this is just a Cartagena Standar. Rooms are great, nice bed and pillows, the spa is also great.
Do not have a beach access and this is probably the thing to improve,

Incredible customer service and attention to details at every level from check-in to housekeeping to valet to concierge to dining. I very rarely give 5 stars but this deserves it without reservation.

It's a wannabe 5 stars hotel. Beautiful and well located the service is as slow as anywhere else, lack proactivity and don't pay any attention to detail. For the price I'll definitely go sometime else next time. Examples: during breakfast I was greated when I had already been there for 10min. I wasn't even offered a coffee or hot drink and I had to chase down the waitress to get it. I also had a problem with the shower and I had to wait in my bathrope for a total of 25min and several calls to front desk. In the swimming pool I didn't receive any help to find a place with a shadow or offered towels. Just a few examples

Beautiful, quiet, delicious and has a great surrounding atmosphere. If you want a great beach don't come here. If you want culture and a great nightlife this is your spot! Knowing Spanish is helpful but definitely not a must.

Everything in this hotel is top-notch during our 4 night stay. Location is conveniently located in the old Cartagena within walking distance to many bars, restaurants and sites. Breakfast buffet was an amazing spread; high quality. Pool is an oasis located at the hotel center. Rooms are spacious and comfy but the bathroom might be a little tight. Great stay but definitely higher-end price

We recently had our wedding here on July 1, 2016, everything was absolutely stunning with the exception of how one of our guests had her purse stolen during the cocktail hour. Her and her family immediately notified security which said that the area where the purse was supposedly stolen in had little to no light which was hard to tell in the surveillance cameras. My guest began canceling her credit cards and the hotel had the audacity to want to charge her for making international calls when her purse was stolen in THEIR hotel. During the wedding reception dinner, while removing the same guest's plate the server took the wedding gift for the bride and groom (the envelope clearly had written outside the names of the bride and groom this gift was placed near the guest's service plate. Her father immediately noticed that the gift card was gone and notified the head of service who went to go check where the envelope went. He came back with the envelope all torn up and it had a missing check. The guest advised him that there was a check inside, the head of service returned back minutes later with the check and claimed that he found it in the garbage. In regards to the purse investigation no one had been notified of the process until 21 hours later that the bride, groom and victim of the stolen purse went to the concierge to inquire about the investigation. We spoke with the General Manager Leopold, Manager of groups and parties Juan Pablo Estrada and the head server that was in charge on Friday July 1st . Juan Pablo began claiming that the guest may have possibly left her purse in the church and we continued insisting to watch the surveillance cameras. While watching the cameras we confirmed that the guest had her purse on as she was entering the hotel's elevator to proceed to the cocktail hour. We honestly feel like this hotel is absolutely beautiful however it has many flaws in terms of hiring appropriate staff members, they have dishonest workers and common sense. Management is very poor as they tried to blame the family and friends attending the wedding that stole the purse. It took the hotel's general manager (Leopold) 48 hours later to advise us that the victim should call the police and file a police report. We honestly feel that the hotel tried to brush everything under the rug and not try to admit that there was a robbery on behalf of their staff in the cocktail hour and another attempted robbery during the reception dinner.
The bride and groom had to spend countless hours trying to speak with administration and security in regards to the incidents that occurred. This is completely unacceptable! Please be careful with your belongings in this place as they have crooks working here!!!!!!
