Bottom line: You get what you pay for!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 7 days based off the reviews that this hotel was stellar, and I just want to give people fair warning that you get what you pay for. We paid about $46 a night to stay in a place with an amazing location (all the best Budget restaurants and breakfast places are here). To be fair we had good air conditioning, a sheet to share between two people, and two comfortable pillows, BUT we also had:
- bed bugs (we got bit so many times our first few nights we had to get a hotel somewhere else to finish our trip). When we told them, they handed us a can of raid.
- a toilet that only flushed half the time. When we told them the issue they gave us a flimsy plunger.
- weak water pressure (see note above)
- tepid/cold showers
- spiders
- VERY thin walls (no chance of being intimate unless you don't care)
- No shampoo/conditioner
- mattress that's basically a box spring (and very squeaky)
Also, there is a curfew, so past a certain hour, they lock the gate and you have to ring the bell to have someone open up the door for you, so be prepared to wait a bit. We did have wifi and a surprisingly nice TV though, so that was nice!
Great for the price. Location is perfect, rooms are basic. Internet was good in the room, which is rare!
Wonderful, friendly, efficient and very helpful staff. Room was bright and clean with good air conditioning.
Very clean and simple, good aircon friendly and helpful staff cute dog Lulu. But mainly clean and really close to a good laundry place! Just don't mind the fact that there is no hot water!
Looks like a bad street on google maps but when you get there its just as good as anywhere else but in the best location possible - round the corner is 2 of tripadvisors top rated cheap eats and both the main gate and the fort are only 5 minutes walk away! Private room was comfortable and the wifi was ok. Staff were all friendly and helpful :) For the price you cant go wrong!
Really okay for the price.
The location is good. The staff is OK. The beds and rooms are awesome. Worthy it.
Excellent hotel, especially for the cost. Our double room and bathroom was clean, the bed was comfortable, the aircon was good and not too loud. Staff were very friendly. Great location in heart of Getsemani, and a superb laundry place across the street! (Beer & Laundry). Would definitely stay here again.
Hotel La Magdalena is located right in the heart of Getsemani.
It is within a five minute walk of an active square with an outdoor dancing Zumba fitness class the night we were there, food stalls, restaurants, bars and people all around. Great atmosphere when we were there on Friday and Saturday. Also within walking distance of old town and Castillo San Felipe de Barajas.
Our double bed was extremely narrow and the hallways echo noiseespecially from the staff even early in the morning. Bathroom was modern. Free coffee all day (no creamer though).
We found some of the nearby side streets the taxi took there a bit dangerous looking but that was at night, no so bad during the day.
Perfect location, clean room with air con, extremely helpful and welcoming staff. Stayed here twice and would again
Very clean hotel in Getsemani, air con, TV, so cheap compared to the other options. Lulu the bulldog is super cute!
