  The trek was amazing, Expotur is clearly the best outfitter to use. We had the best time with Jorge Lara as our guide. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about going and using them as their guide service!

  I did the 4 day hiking trip with 6 friends. It was a genuine adventure where every step led to a new discovery. We loved everything about it, even the hard steep slopes, because they gave us a reason to celebrate afterwards. Our guide, Levi Lara and his colleagues, Luis and Poncho (Alfonso), along with the amazing cook (!!!) only helped to enhance the experience.

  Doing the Lost City Trek was a great experience even in the rainy season. The scenery and experiences you get are unique.
  
  The guides and staff were kind and very helpful. Communication with the office was also smooth.
  
  There was something however that is hard to understand and I found it rather alarming:
  
  *** "Who is the cook?" ***
  
  Expotur has large groups - When I went it was roughly 10+10 people. Moreover, different companies seem to share the same accommodation and food (with some exceptions). That brought the number of guests roughly to 30-35. Now add 10-15 of support staff and guides. We are talking about around 50 to be fed!
  
  Cooking is thus done in mass production and the serving time is the same for all groups. If you go notice that at the peak time of lunch/dinner you may have around 10+ people in the kitchen doing various jobs including preparing food and salad. Obviously, if 10+ people are handling the food the notion of the cook is lost.
  
  My impression was that in the kitchen "anything goes". Several people got a stomach ache the last day from the pasta and chicken. Also, a young man served me coffee in a dirty cup because he couldn't find a washed one. I understand that during camping such events can happen, but the way I experienced it was a systematic lack of roles in the kitchen something which is a disaster waiting to happen and in fact, it did happen.
  
  Office staff were helpful to people that felt uncomfortable by offering doctor service (health cover included).
