Great place to watch the sunset. Get there early if you want a table against the wall for the best view. The place is very popular, so do not come expecting fast service or cheap drinks, but enjoy the amazing view while you wait and get a pitcher of sangria, it's delicious and prevents waiting for refills!

Quintessential Cartagena experience! The view is beautiful and the drinks strong. Arrive at least an hour before sunset to get a table with full view of the ocean. Also has a lovely view of the city. The drinks are a little pricey, but the view and atmosphere are well worth it.

Had a nice drink here with good views. However they where let down with us trying to pay several times and it seemed only one waitress had a card machine so took ages after we finished. The restrooms require a ticket and it's only 1 per person and they only gave us one, which was very irritating.
It is still a nice spot and would visit

This place is good. the view is wonderful at night, the breeze, the atmosphere. When you visit this place look for JORGE, he works there. he speaks English (not fluently) but he will attend to all your needs. He recommends some good drinks MUST VISIT

Make sure to arrive before sunset !
Cafe del Mar is the best vantage point to see the sun set over the sea in Cartagena. We only had cocktails, so are not able to comment about the food. It is such a romantic spot even with the large crowd that congregates here. There was great music with a musician who looked and sounded like Yanni performing. We stayed for a few hours and loved every minute there.

Beautiful place. Definitely my favorite in Cartagena to grab a drink. It's a bit pricey but they make good drinks and it's definitely worth the surroundings and views.

Best place to catch sunset in Cartagena. Had pitchers of sangria which were great. The place can get really packed at sunset so you should try to get there 45 minutes to an hour early to try to get a table.

Great place to have a drink and see the sunset. The cafe is actually on top of Santo Domingo’s Baluarte (one part of the famous wall of the city), so you have a great view of both the ocean and the city. I had a whisky (not much of a cocktail person), but people seemed enjoying nice looking cocktails. Also, some electro-lounge music while sun sets get you in a nice mood for partying.

Perfect stop to catch a Cartagena sunset. Nice breeze, great drinks and lots of photo opportunities. Try to get there at least an hour before sunset to get good seats and drinks as service gets slow around then.

This place is fantastic to see the sunset and just spend a chill afternoon in Cartagena waiting for the sunset in the walled city. Excellent location. The only thing that was. It ver pleasant was the people outside trying to sell you stuff.

Very expensive place. The view is amazing with the sunset. Unfortunately drinks are made with cheap alcohol (Gordon's gin for the g+t) and therefore taste like that. Waiting time is really long. Not recommended!

The city of Cartagena offers excellent views and magic places. Cafe del Mar take advantage of been at the wall of the fortified old city. The place does not have easy access for H.C. or bathrooms on premises

Great views and decently priced cocktails for the setting. You need to arrive super early if you want a good table. The food isnt great, but its certainly good enough to go with the cocktails while the sun sets!!

Very disappointing. This place does not deserve a 4.5 star rating. The service was very slow, the food was incredibly mediocre, the cocktails were fine, but everything was very overpriced. The view was decent but it is not necessary to go here to see it. A walk along the muralla suffices. Save your money and go somewhere else!

This is an amazing place to go and see the sunset in Cartegena. The images speak for themselves and the place has music and lively crowd. We spent nearly 4 hours here.

Great place to see a sunset, lousy place to get good food or a reasonable drink. Stick to beer, snap a photo or two and move on with your evening. Service seems pretty good, don't forget to keep your receipt, you need to show it on the way out

Great views and people watching here! It is very expensive by local standards but still OK by gringo pricing standards. Service is OK. Come to enjoy a cocktail and just relax with an awesome ocean view. Pro tip, grab a beer from a nearby vendor an MD find a place along the wall if sitting isn't important. You can legally drink on the wall and a beer from a guy with a cooler is like a buck. But the Cafe is nice. Open your wallet and chill there for a couple of hours.

Come here only for the view at sunset and order the cheapest thing. We arrived earlier at 4pm when it looked like it was open because anyone could sit at their tables. Vendors were selling drinks right by the entrance in front of the cafe staff. Since we saw other people at tables purchasing drinks from them and sitting down at the tables, we thought it was okay too. However, at 5pm, the staff starts passing out menus and they tell us we can't drink the drinks we purchased from the vendors. They knew exactly what they're doing. The vendors and cafe staff are in cahoots to squeeze as much money as they can from tourists. Staff is rude and unsympathetic. We were looking forward to watching the sunset from their location, and the experience left a bad taste.

we were really excited about this place. however we left disappointed. Overall I'd say that you should go there for drinks and fun, not for food. We had somebody with a broken arm with us but they refused to put us at a normal table (while it was available) and put us on a low one. It then took ages to come and take up our order. they took our drinks order but never came back for the food order so we didn't bother anymore. So if you want to drink and enjoy the music, great place to go. food (and service), not so much.
