American traveler to this water town. I read online this was the most touristy water town but my travel companion wanted to go so I went with the flow. Overall mixed feelings. With the night view, charming archicture and slightly smaller crowd sizes on the weekdays I would say overall it delivered, but also it's a tourist trap no question. We went to Nanxun just before Wuzhen and it felt much more rustic and authentic.

My favorite old street I've been to in China so far! (traveled early Dec.)

The admission fee seemed a bit pricey, but it was definitely worth it.
Although it doesn't seem to be a big place to work around with bunch of little street to peak at. I took the afternoon and evening (from about 1pm to 9pm) to go around just the xizha. It would have been better in the spring time when the flowers and trees lush, but it was still good with a mix of residential and commercial areas mixed together. I thought the daytime photos were beautiful, but the night view of the old town is just dazzling, with simple but natural-looking lighting.

I heard some people say it's too crowded and dirty, but I had no problem with those.

    STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!
