These apartments feel like a good 3 star, not quite 4. However, the location, close to food, walking distance to tourist attractions, shopping and the metro trains (Dashijie station is no more than 300m away) make this good value for money and worth 4 stars. Our rooms and bathroom can be described as clean and tidy, though not spotless. We are fussy, so the unit we stayed in would be acceptable to most. We didn't get any water views, but People's Park was pleasant enough. Staff service is best described as efficient. Don't expect 5 star hotel service, be civil to the staff, and you'll be fine. If a swimming pool is important to you, go elsewhere, it's distinctly uninviting. We went prepared to swim but never went in, after taking a look at its tired state and seeing a guest spit to the out side of the pool. The gym is useable but also getting tired and needs some maintenance. But it's perfectly adequate if you just need a place to stay as a base for your Shanghai adventures. Wouldn't bother with hotel breakfast, there are plenty of food places nearby, who would happily serve you some food. If you're struggling with Chinese as we were, just walk in, look around and either point at menu pictures or at what the locals are eating, easy!
