    A hidden treasure-

I had a great experience here. Rooms were a little small, however when taking into consideration the price, they are great.

Location is excellent, walking distance to the forbidden city and a train station a few hundred meters away. The bar area is a great place to socialize with people from around the world, with cheap beers to cap it off.

The staff were the highlight for me, so friendly and helpful. The lady sat down and drew a full map for me and my brother. She was so outgoing and friendly, her service was better than that of a $300/night hotel I had just left.

All in all, I have no choice but to give it a 10/10 and would recommend to anybody.

Happy Dragon has a very convenient location, easy walk to the Subway line, easy to find, and maybe a 20 minute walk from the Forbidden City.

The staff were helpful, but their English was not particularly good. We didn't opt into any of the shows after seeing the cost. They were helpful in telling us how to get to Mutianyu via public transit and such.

The atmosphere at the hostel is friendly, but there was really no lounge area to hang out in apart from their restaurant/bar inside.

The walls are really really thin in the rooms, and the radiator heat units do not heat the room particularly well. I could listen to someone's conversation in the next room word for word, even when they were talking softly. Small, cozy rooms. Internet and TV worked great, but no VPN.

I got food poisoning when I tried to order a burger at the restaurant. They did not have any burgers, despite it being a featured item on the menu, and so I ordered a chicken burger instead. I got food poisoning, presumably from the chicken burger that was actually just a cold chicken sandwich. After 4 months in China, this was the first time I got food poisoning from anywhere. Their Draft Beer on tap is OK.
