敷地内に皇帝が農耕儀礼を行なっていた祭壇(先農壇)がある古代建築の博物館。今は祭壇がコンクリで固められている。
普通の住宅地の奥にあるため、行き帰りに地元の生活感を味わえる。

The nearest metro station is 2 km (25 min) walk. All the exhibit rooms are beautifully arranged and displayed with minimal English signs. The museum focuses on Chinese architecture through different dynastic periods and cultural influences. Most of the displays are photos of existing buildings. There are scale models, a display of craftsmen tools, and raw material like lumber and tile. Otherwise, it's mostly a pictorial exhibit.

The museum is set in the former Temple of Agriculture. This is a unique experience. Not only can you view the museum, but there are exhibits on the former temple.

On Wednesdays, the first 200 visitors are free. Otherwise 15 RMB for adults.

Very quiet place, you can pay ticket for ¥15, and stay here for the whole afternoon. It was a place that emperor sacrificed to Agricultural Gods, and hoped that there would be a harvest in next year. But now it is Chinese Ancient Architecture Museum, and you can see the agriculture from Xia Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. You will see the development of Chinese Architecture, and how Chinese people build their houses. The most beautiful thing in this museum is over your head, we call it ZaoJing. It is an hole in the ceiling, and in this hole contains a dragon that is looking at you. Also you will know the bricks which the floor of the largest house in Forbidden City is made of. You can knock it with a wooden hammer, and the sound is like knocking some metal. It is a good place, however, a little hard to find it, and there's few bus around it, so you have to walk and find. Be careful of losing your way and have a happy time here.
