Every once in a while when you travel you blink. You think about the plan you've embroiled yourself in and you balk. This is for other people, not for me. People who are ok with waiting in lines. This happened to me when I first crossed into Bolivia. A pathetic little border town named Villazón with no running water and no available train seats out. Here too, in Arica, the options for comfortable egress are limited.
This border crossing is a complete clusterfoot. No really, this time I'm not exaggerating. I'm going to have to break down and ask an anglophone what to do. To follow the instructions of the natives just doesn't make sense.response / report this review -

Must depart early here if you want to take a bus or combi to Tacna. Bus station fee is $350. There are also destinations going to Bolivia.

Es la primera parada obligatoria después de entrar a Chile. Tienes servicio de casa de cambios, hospedaje, guarda de equipaje, tours y hay hoteles, restaurantes y una estación de gas cerca. Ojo que las casas de cambio solo atienden hasta cierta hora y hay bastante gente.

Falta mucha inversión en su infraestructura, estamos hablando de un terminal internacional y que a simple vista parece un terminal rural, repleto de gente que duerme en cada rincón que hay. Ni hablar de los servicios higiénicos, muy paupérrimo y el único baño se hace muy poco para atender a tanta gente.
