Description

Police in the Cook Islands are responsible for both the internal and external security of the Country. Although our country is small in population numbers we have a very large EEZ that is policed by our Maritime Division using the patrol boat Te Kukupa.

Police Headquarters is found in downtown Avarua. At the headquarters we supervise and conduct General Policing Operations, Traffic Policing, Criminal Investigations and issue Drivers Licences. Other activities such as Raffle Permits, Dog Import Permits, Information Requests and Instant Fine Payments are dealt with by our Regulatory Division which is also domiciled at Police National Headquarters.

We are a small but effective organisation that is currently on a journey of change, I am not sure that the journey will be ever over.
