The hotel itself is very pleasant and of good quality, the rooms are well equipped and have balconies overlooking the lake, if you book on the right side; However it is let down by a very mediocre restaurant and inattentive staff.
Do not make the mistake as we did of taking the half board option, its better to eat elsewhere with certainly more choice.

Excellent location. Ideal for families. Short walks to town, Lido and the Orselina Train / Cable Car. Decent size pool with sun bathing areas till sun disappears behind building. Kids Play Area / Bambini Club. My only gripe: parking. The spaces are tight if you drive anything SUV size.

The hotel is well placed. The pictures are a little bit over selling. But it is clean and everything is ok. Personal is friendly and welcoming.

I stayed here with my family for 3 days. I would rate it as a good family friendly 3 star hotel, but somehow it does not quite live up to a 4 star hotel compared to others, such as the Belvedere in Locarno. Part's of the hotel (including the rooms, which are large) have been recently refurbished but other parts remain original. The effect of the refurbishment however is that it just feels like an international hotel - it has little charm or character.

We have spent 2 nights in this hotel.
I booked here because supposedly it was a child friendly hotel and rooms 30-40sqm.
1. Nothing child friendly. The indoor playground is under refurbishment and the outdoor playground I am surprised it meets safety standards. The swings are too high and the floor underneath is half stone / half hard earth.
2. The room is far from 30-40sqm! Plus they gave us an unfurnished one which it is NOT what you see on their webpage. When I complained about the size of the room they said that the sqm of the balcony were included. Huge & useless & no children friendly balcony / small room for 4!!
3. Breakfast buffet was very average Although gross to see cheese with green mold :-((
4. Location is the only thing really worthy
5. No way this hotel is a 4 stars. It is a tight 3 stars.

Positive:

The morning (daytime) staff were very friendly and they always performed their duties with a smile. Additionally, the proximity to the lake, the promenade and the old town make this hotel an excellent choice, notwithstanding the international standard amplitude of choice at the breakfast buffet and 'made to order' hot plates.

Negative:

There seemed to be little to no evening support staff and those that were around weren't well versed in the facilities and/or the capabilities therein. We had no means of getting room service after 2200hrs and asking for a cup of tea was like requesting a photo shoot with a unicorn. We ended up having to go into the kitchen ourselves (accompanied by a member of staff), boil the water, collect the tea bags, organise the mugs and grab some milk, before going back to the room to perform the necessary arrangements in brewing said tea. The room lacked basic amenities such as a kettle, etc. There was no hot beverage for us in the morning prior to attending the restaurant for breakfast. We put in some laundry for a service wash (not much) and our bill came to CHF115! We might as well had thrown the dirty clothes away and bought new ones at that rate Lastly, the parking situation is abysmal. There are 6 spaces outside the main entrance (usually occupied after 1000hrs) and the only means to park a car is to use the underground car park, which sees an additional charge at CHF15 per day/night. Points I find are not very conducive of a Ramada Hotel chain

We were here with our one month old son and the staff was very nice and helpful in general as well as with some of our special requests. The location is good and so is the food in the restaurant.

Just back from a great holiday on Hotel Arcadia Locarno. Everything at this hotel is first class, the rooms,the staff, the breakfast, the comfort of the Restaurant and the view from the balcony was fabulous. We will definitely be returning next year.
