As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I was thoroughly disappointed with my experience at this hotel. We were left to suffer in 80+ degree heat in our room with no air conditioning. The front desk clerk tried to accommodate by moving us to another room but after checking multiple rooms across multiple floors, none had a functioning HVAC system. He noted other guests were also complaining of the same issue. Management, however, refused to provide alternative accommodations considering they could not fix the HVAC system. We ultimately had to sleep with cold wet towels on our bodies to make it through the night. Totally unacceptable to lack functioning air conditioning in the middle of summer. After my stay, I discovered this has been a recurrent issue at this hotel and management has repeatedly failed to remediate it. You can read the compendium of Google reviews below mine and you will curiously find that management will not respond to those which raise the air conditioning issue. Unsurprisingly, management never responded to multiple emails I sent seeking to have my stay compensated which compelled me to reach out to Hilton Worldwide directly. Once I contacted Hilton’s corporate office and explained my experience at this hotel, Hilton, thankfully, DID compensate me. Hilton Worldwide also indicated they will be investigating the issue directly and will be sending inspectors to evaluate compliance with brand standards. Repeated violations of HGI brand standards in the form of no HVAC in multiple guest rooms is a brazen gamble on the part of the proprietors. Hopefully they will reconsider their practices as it relates to facility management. But until they do, I advise that you stay far away from the Hilton Garden Inn Zurich Limmattal.
I booked two reward stays here, both for 3 rooms as we were travelling with a group. Our first night, one of the 3 rooms has a bed that had a broken leg, so it slanted down. They moved us to a new room, but the AC on this new room and the two others didn't work well and being in the start of July, the rooms were unbearably hot. We called down to front desk to address the AC issues, but we're told that they couldn't do anything about it during the night as the hotel was full. Needless to say, we did not sleep well that night.
The staff at front desk the next morning was friendly and allowed us to leave some of our luggage there while we travelled to lucerne and interlaken before we would return to this hotel for the end of our trip. Hotel breakfast was good and restaurant staff were very friendly.
When we returned for our last night, we were placed on the 3rd floor again and the AC on 2 rooms did not work and the third room had a very strong smell of chemicals or something else I couldn't identify. They moved all three of our rooms to the fifth floor, as they weren't fully booked this time around and the rooms were what we would expect - functioning AC and unbroken beds (even though all of the mattresses throughout the stay were uncomfortable and stiff).
After returning home, I noticed that they charged me for two of the rooms on the last night, even though all rooms were booked using Hilton points and were deducted from my account. So now I have to go through the trouble of providing them with proof that it was a reward stay with points and get a refund.
Would not recommend this property unless you are going to the restaurant, which exceeded our expectations with food quality and service.
We stayed here for one night upon arriving in Switzerland. It was a good middle point before our next town. The room was quite cramped and small, and we were given two single beds instead of a queen. The lobby area has fun vibes. The location is not ideal for attractions nearby. Essentially, just a good place for a quick sleep.
Good front desk helper and housekeepers staff..
The hotel in general have good location away from the city.
They turned off the central air conditioning from all bedrooms, and only operating it on the ground floor in the reception. ( Saving costs )!!!.
They didn’t mentioned about turning off the AC in the website for the reservation. We feel cheated. Because otherwise we have more options for choosing another hotel with same price.
I recently stayed at this hotel, and I must say, it was an incredibly disappointing experience. From broken air conditioning to a malfunctioning dryer and slow shower water, the numerous issues I encountered during my stay made it difficult to enjoy my time there.
First and foremost, the broken air conditioning was a major inconvenience. Considering Switzerland's reputation for meticulous attention to detail, I had expected a comfortable and well-maintained room. However, the lack of proper cooling made the room uncomfortably warm, especially during the summer months. It was truly disappointing that the hotel failed to address this fundamental requirement for guest comfort.
Another issue was the malfunctioning dryer. As a traveler, I rely on hotel amenities to ensure a hassle-free experience, including the availability of a functional dryer. Unfortunately, this particular hotel fell short in that regard. The absence of a working dryer meant that I had to make alternative arrangements to dry my clothes, which was an unnecessary hassle and inconvenience.
To add to the list of grievances, the shower water flow was incredibly slow. Taking a refreshing shower after a long day of exploring should be a rejuvenating experience, but instead, it turned into a frustrating endeavor. The lack of water pressure made it difficult to rinse off properly and disrupted what should have been a relaxing moment.
Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of my stay was the unhelpful and dismissive attitude of the receptionist when I brought these issues to their attention. Rather than addressing the problems and offering potential solutions, the receptionist seemed more interested in making excuses. They repeatedly claimed that everything in Switzerland is done in a "special" way to ensure a high quality of life, implying that the issues I faced were somehow part of this unique Swiss experience. This attitude was unprofessional and failed to acknowledge the hotel's responsibility to provide basic amenities and efficient service.
Furthermore, it is important to note that the receptionist's comments about the supposed exceptional quality of life in Switzerland were unwarranted. While Switzerland does have its own distinct charm, it is not drastically different from other developed countries in terms of overall quality of life. Such excuses only served to further frustrate me as a guest who had paid for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Lastly, the room service's failure to replenish towels was a baffling oversight. Removing all the towels without providing replacements is simply unacceptable. It left me without essential items for personal hygiene, forcing me to contact the reception yet again to request towels. This lack of attention to detail and disregard for guest comfort was deeply disappointing.
Overall, my experience at this hotel was marked by broken amenities, unhelpful service, and a dismissive attitude from the receptionist. From the faulty air conditioning and malfunctioning dryer to the slow shower water and lack of replacement towels, it is evident that the hotel failed to meet even the most basic standards of guest satisfaction. I would strongly advise potential guests to look elsewhere for a more reliable and accommodating hotel in Switzerland.
