  Had a reservation at middle of September, but the snow was covering the top of the mountain already, so they were closed and didn't send me to cancel my reservation. I got stuck in the snow on the top and eventually had to hike all the way down again on the same day before sunset.. horrible experience that could have been avoided if they cared to inform me that my reservation is cancelled and they are closed, besides the risk i was exposed to on the top as they apparently leave the place during winter because the snow is very dangerous on the top.

  Located at a very picturesque location with fantastic view over the surrounding peaks on one side and a direct view of the stunning rock building the top of Calanda mountain. On the way there you can follow an easy two hours hike from the Untervazer Alp leading through some alpine grassland. On the way you can enjoy marmots every 20m popping in and out of their holes, or if you are lucky as we were, you can cross some chamoix on the way. At the Calanda Hütte they serve very tasty and rustic food, which gets you going for some more hours easily. Enjoy!!
