I’m usually only around this store for Christmas, but the selection of holiday items is incredible! The store is always so festive as they have much of their product on display. One of my favourite traditions is visiting Green Gate and looking at all of the Department 56 village pieces.

Mid size garden centre, inner city convenience for the urban gardener.
If you have the inclination to drive to the nurseries just outside the city you will likely find a better deal on plants.response / report this review -

1st time visit . very enjoyable time lots of indoor plants in beautiful condition, giftware, outdoor garden ornaments & furniture. Also outdoor section for trees & shrubs & any type of garden product required. They sell quality!! I imagine it would be a fun & interesting shop for seasonal & Christmas as well!

Courteous staff. Michael Dallaire is especially knowledgeable and helpful. He explains with great clarity, and is always very patient when supplying information.

I just called and asked for advice for a good well draining soil for my fiddle leaf fig. The person I spoke to on the phone was rude and speaking down to me saying that the plant doesn't need a well draining soil and they were a horticulturist That the 4 hours of research I had done basically meant nothing. Nice customer service (obviously I am being sarcastic here).

I went here to get a new hose sprayer but also needed information about a problem with my evergreens. I was told to talk to Michael and he was incredible! Once I showed him a picture of the needles and what was on them, he quickly identified the problem and was able to tell me exactly how to treat it. As well, he gave me information about what to do in the 'dormant' stage as well as how to treat it in the 'active' stage. Just as important, he told me which products to avoid for Colorado Blue Spruce, as some of the treatments for other spruce trees can damage the Colorado Spruce. Needless to say, I purchased the products he recommended and will be treating my trees accordingly. I was very impressed with his knowledge and, he backed it up by showing me pictures and descriptions in one of their prairie treatment books. Thanks Michael!

Great place, tonnes of selection of very high quality, products and gorgeous plants. I do wish some of the staff had more knowledge on their plants and products though. All in all I love this place and will definitely return :)

On season, the selection is amazing! Off, there are special event set ups for the holidays with lots of themed goods available. Always a small selection of plants in off seasons as well.

Great selection of plants. Be sure to check out their African violets and bonsai selection. They have better offerings compared to Calgary's other garden centres.
