Beautiful campus due to its prime location and ample natural trails and forests; however, it is really tough to find reasonably priced food.

UVic is full of money-grabbing policies and establishments. CARSA - biggest money grab, you have to pay (can't opt. out) for regular membership, but it costs additional $$ to use weights or climbing wall or to reserve equipment or space ahead of time. The parking is really amazing (not!), even if you pay yearly - you can't find a parking spot when you arrive and have to hunt for one for up-to 30 minutes (sometimes longer), and they can't even remind you to renew your pass and then ding you $30-$60 for forgetting. The food is atrocious and extremely expensive! like $4.50 for a slice of pizza. The Student Aid services won't send a fax to Canada Student Loans for you - you have to pay out of pocket and go across campus to do this yourself. These are just a few small examples, I'm not even talking tuition fees, especially for international students!! Poor international students - my friend was living on campus (dorm) and the school shuts down during the last week of December, so they forced him to move out during that week!!! Where are you gonna live for a week if you're international student??? (answer: not on campus).
This place is seriously ridiculous, and no one is doing anything about it, and it's getting worse and worse each year.
The campus is beautiful and professors are great, that's why two stars. Everything else is highly questionable.response / report this review -

Very beautiful campus especially in Spring and Summer time, lots of wild hares all year around in the campus, occasionally you may spot a deer. The best University in Vancouver Island.

Overall, my experience at Uvic was exceptional. I went through all of the coursework with virtually the same cohort, which helped to develop a high level of camaraderie and teamwork. I was able to solely focus on my studies, knowing that my schedule was being managed effectively by the front office staff. The instructors were current leaders in their respective fields and were passionate about what they were teaching. The only area in which I took issue with, was transferable credits. I arrived at Uvic with an AA degree from Okanagan college, but still had to take a couple of the classes that someone entering from another Post-Secondary Institution might not have had to. In other words, even though Uvic accepted my transcripts, they really didn't amount to what I expected in regards to being a full transfer student, or negate the need to take particular courses. This may have been a misunderstanding on my part. However, I did find value in all of the classes that I took. Although I didn't stick to a career in business, I have had a successful tenure in public education, and credit Uvic for accelerating that career.

I've had a great experience while I was at UVic, and got a job before I even graduated, as did many of my friends and peers.
