One of my faves. Great diner. All locally sourced food. Staff are wonderful. Food is great. The new fancier restaurant part upstairs is worth a visit too

Love the atmosphere upstairs and love their delicious salmon platter. This is a great place to go with people you want to impress or treat.

It's cool without being pretentious. The prices aren't extravagant (though they aren't inexpensive either). Most importantly, the food is good.

It's been my favorite place to enjoy lunch for the last 15 years. Great atmosphere, lots of background chatter and a nostalgic decor with a great menu. The food is fresh and the portions are adequate. The service is friendly and they check on you during your meal. Get there early if you want to avoid the line-up at lunch time. I love their grain bowl, their greek salad and the liver and onions. Their white wine never disappoints me. They also have gluten-free bread option. If you didn't have time for desert, have a look at their cookies when pay your bill at the cash. Enjoy!

We had such a warm reception at this restaurant. We had just arrived from an 9 hour travel and were welcomed with a "You guys hungry? Come on in!". It was later in the evening and there was no wait. We both had the chicken potpie and it was delicious. Very flavorful gravy and I really like the flaky dough on top of the filling. We would definitely come back!

I am very confused. For years I hard how good and iconic is this place so I decided to invite my best friend for brunch last Saturday and boom!. We notice right away how much cleaning need the place, I meant a really good one, plus staff eating left over or reusing milk for the next customers doesn't look good neither.
But we were there and we order anyway. My food wasn't that bad, I ordered F.Toast that came served with nothing on the side but taste. My friend ask for a Eggs Benny and a choice between potatoes or greens, she pick potatoes. The whole order came 35min latter, my friends got almost boiled eggs in her Benny. She's not from here so I tried to explain really hard who this supposed to be just looking to make her feel better.
I am really confused. Why this place has high reviews? is just overrated? or is good for real?. I will go for overrated and definitely next time walk a few more steps south looking for Fran's, at least in there is cheaper and faster.
That was my first bad experience at The Senator!

This is my go to, every weekend, for as solid a diner brunch as you can get in any city, anywhere. Classic diner vibe, incredible staff. And somehow that massive line out the door moves pretty steadily. Oh, and world's best coffee. I'm willing to put that in writing.

Fantastic food! On a trip from Montreal and I was not disappointed. The staff is friendly and well informed on the menu. The eggs were fresh and cooked to perfection. The French toasts in here are amazing (and they let you substitute your pancakes for it!). Even the beans were way above what we expected. Would return there in a heartbeat. Consider opening a shop in Montréal? :)

I am beyond impressed by the hospitality and care seen at The Senator Restaurant. I have gone twice in the last 5 days - first off for breakfast. The breakfast was amazing - great beans with their eggs mmmmm! And the second time for baked goods!! They have DELICIOUS cookies and brownies!!! BOTH times I was greeted with the kindest gentleman they go above and beyond!!!!! CAN NOT WAIT TO GO AGAIN!

Such a nice little venue. There was an old fashioned vibe when I entered, seeing all the jazz decor.Although the space is small, there's a homey vibe to everything. Staff was enthusiastic when we got our table. Food was great with a nice selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Definitely coming back!

I passed this restaurant several times over the years on my visits to Toronto. Today, I came in for breakfast. Why did I wait so long? Absolutely a quality meal. French toast was delicious with a side order of flavourable bacon. Service very polite and quick and most efficient. I shall return!

Our family went there around 2:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. Food was great. Waiter was a little quiet but I don't want to be his best friend so whatever. Get the bigger than a babies head chocolate chunk cookie sitting at the cash. It's awesome. Also a nice touch are the complimentary Life Savers at the cash.

What a neat little place! We went around 2pm, so it wasn't very busy when we were there, but I can see how this place would get quite cramped during peak hours. I got the mac and cheese due to other reviewers comments. It was okay. What really made it amazing was our waiter bringing over some homemade hot sauce, that was incredible. The fries were also wonderful and my SO really enjoyed his burger. My only complaint was that the waiter sort of forgot about us after we got our food. He was chatting with a younger girl that was at a table closer to the bar. We waited quite a bit with empty glasses before we flagged down the other waitress that was on staff. She took care of us from that point out. Overall the food was good, and the people were friendly, I would go back.

Very friendly staff and tasty food. A great staple in Toronto. It does get very busy sometimes though, so be prepared for a wait if you go on a weekend in the late morning.

Great spot for a traditional breakfast! Farmers eggs cooked in butter. Many breakfasts come with baked beans which is a big plus in my books. Service is always friendly and efficient. This place can get very busy where there is a matinee show across the street at the theatre.
