A Tribute to The Dumbells, the families that uphold their legacy, and to all the other soldiers that stood for their country. Tonight we honour the Canadian concert party that entertained the troops on the front lines, as well as our two honoured guests Lt (N) (Ret’d) David Howard, Royal Canadian Navy and Corporal George "Potsy" Burrows, Royal Canadian Air Force. We also thank the HMCS York Military Band for their beautiful performance in the lobby and to everyone in attendance for honouring this era.

Life has a way of knocking on our door on the days we least expect it. For singer songwriter Royal Wood, life knocked pretty damn hard. For in the same year that he lost his father to illness, he also fell in love and got married.
When asked about the album title and artwork, Royal said "I called the album 'Ever After The Farewell' because I wanted the title to encompass the polar opposite emotions I felt in my life while creating the music. I said farewell to my father, but I started the journey of ever after with my wife. We used the man and woman's hands on the cover because they represent both my hand taking my wife's hand in marriage, and my father's leaving my mother's."
Performing songs from his deeply personal eighth album 'Ever After the Farewell', Royal Wood is #Attherose November 22 in Studio II.

Lt (N) (Ret’d) David Howard, Royal Canadian Navy, ia 100 year-old veteran who fought in the Battle of the Atlantic in WWII.
"Mr. Howard went on to serve as the Executive Officer on board HMCS Morden, one of Canada’s multi-role corvette-class ships. He retired from the Royal Canadian Navy as the Commanding Officer of the same ship. Today, he continues to share the legacy of the millions of Canadians who contributed to the success of allied forces during WWII and beyond. He is the sole survivor of the extended Howard family."

Registration is now open for auditions for Centre Stage 2019, a showcase of local talent from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Singers, dancers, musicians, spoken word artists, stand-up comedians, and more, are all welcome! Apply now to audition to perform on The Rose’s Mainstage on April 11, 2019!
Auditions are November 17, 2018. Individual audition times will be confirmed upon registration.
Performers will get the full star treatment including the opportunity to perform twice on the Mainstage (student matinee and public evening performance); a professional headshot, feedback from industry-insiders; and a chance to meet their peers.
Past performers have returned to The Rose to perform at special Member Events, on stage in Garden Square, the 2018 City of Brampton Tree-lighting Ceremony, and at the Caribbean Music Entertainment Awards!

The Rose is honoured to welcome Brampton's own George "Potsy" Burrows to Soldiers of Song this Friday.
"Dad was a Corporal in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He hitch-hiked to Toronto to join up on July 14, 1941. The only attribute he said he had was to play lacrosse. Because that was not what they needed, upon questioning, he mentioned he was in the Brampton Band, they asked if he could play the horn and that was it. He was the buglar from then on. It was on Jarvis Street, in Toronto that he was the station trumpeter. He was in the Air Force until the end of the war. Since then he has been very active in the Royal Canadian Legion.
I am just going to say a few things by point because I have five pages of his bio:
*Played the Last Post and spoke to schools in the Brampton area, Remembrance Day Services and all Legion functions for over 60 years *Canadian Volunteer Medal *Brampton Branch 15 Life Member *Queen’s 50-year Jubilee Metal *Queen’s 60-year Diamond Jubilee Metal *Meritorious Service Metal and Certificate (second highest award given by Dominion Command) *Brampton Civic Award, 1981 *Brampton Citizen of the Year, 1997 *Key to the City of Brampton, 2013 *William Mercer Award from the Masonic Lodge (highest award for a Mason who has not gone through the chairs) *Life member of Brampton Youth Hockey *Life member Brampton Minor Lacrosse *Inducted to the Ontario Lacrosse Hall Of Fame *Inducted to the Brampton Sports Hall Of Fame *Paul Harris Award from the Brampton Rotary Club *Ontario Medal Of Good Citizenship (second highest metal presented by the Province of Ontario)

#OurPeople
I’ve worked at The Rose for 6.5 years and for The City of Brampton for 15 years. I started in a Recreation Centre snack bar and I fell in love with public service. I realized at a young age that I wanted build a career with The City of Brampton and worked in several areas throughout the City – eventually, I stumbled upon the Culture Sector. I was in awe of the level of service the Theatre provided all of its patrons and knew I wanted to be part of this team. I love music and particularly enjoy emerging local artists. The passion for their work is so deep rooted and raw, it’s a really an amazing thing to see.
I love watching people enter the lobby prior to a performance. Everyone is filled with excitement and anticipation and the energy in the building is exhilarating. Its something I would never get to experience if I had a “regular” desk job and I feel so fortunate for that.
My favourite show so far at the Rose was the Barenaked Ladies. It was such a fun and energetic performance, and this season, I’m really excited about I Mother Earth and Finger 11. These 2 bands in our intimate space is going to be a really great experience for our patrons.

It was our very first time at the Rose Theatre. We attended the Gordon Lightfoot concert and were very impressed with this lovely venue. It is cozy and intimate without being too small. The seating was extremely comfortable and for once I did not have to sit with my chin on my knees or squirm to cross/uncross my legs without kicking the seat in front of me (i.e., more legroom than I have ever experienced in a theatre)! The staff were warm and helpful. Once we got home, I immediately reviewed their 2017/2018 calendar and bought tickets to several upcoming events. We're looking forward to returning.

I have been a season ticket holder for several years. My friend and I love the variety of entertainment and the smaller venue. The Rose Theatre is easily accessible and close to several restaurants. We always enjoy a glass of wine before the show and the only negative comment I can make is that I wish there was more seating in the lobby. When two people sit on one sofa, there is no room for another couple. I find the staff to be helpful as well as very friendly. Thanks!!! Heading to two shows in December to celebrate the Christmas season.

Mom and I attended the Glenn Miller Orchestra concert Wednesday March 22. Mom brought her walker instead of a cane as it is a challenge for her to get around. We were treated like royalty by all the staff there. I would like to make special mention of one of the front of house staff named Jessica. She took great care of us and all if the other patrons. Awesome employee! Wonderful attitude!! All the staff related so pleasantly with one and other also. We Thoroughly enjoyed our night out at the Rose Theatre! Can't wait to come again.

I always have enjoyed shows at the Rose Theater but was very disappointed in how things were handled at a show on Friday night. Feb 10th. Two ladies got out of hand during the show and nothing was really done about it. One young lady left but the other just taunted the staff and security the whole time. She ended up on stage and was fipping the bird at everything. Took away from the show. Heard that police were called but no one showed. This took away from the show as everyone was watching to see what was going to happen next with these young women (if you want to call them that).

The Rose Theater Brampton is an amazing place for entertainment, and what makes it more special is the staff members. Great welcoming with a smile, and a great atmosphere. I recommend the Rose Theater and feel very proud to have such a great theater where I live.

Bought tickets to last night's show (Tea Party) months in advance. Arrived at the show with kid in a candy store like anticipation. Then the usher walked us to our seats. Someone decided it would be a good idea to set up a second sound system directly in our line of sight. furthermore, the back of the technician's head blocked the view of the stage all night.disappointed would an egregious understatement.

Great venue for live music. Free parking (in evening), free coat check, very friendly staff, bar with reasonable options including some snacks at reasonable prices. Doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the house. Acoustics for the concert I attended were very good. Will definitely be back for future events.

Attended the performance this evening. All around us people were "filming" and taking photos with a flash. Me and the lady next to me took one picture WITHOUT a flash as Steve sat on the stage in front of us and had an usher with a flashlight rush over to our row yelling at us and flashing the light like we were a couple of criminals. Meanwhile filming and photos being snapped and shot all around us. I noticed one woman in the front row with 20 + pictures and another was filming for several minutes. Not a word said to any one in the front row or for that matter anyone surrounding us during the performance. The incident ruined the rest of the show for us. Totally disappointing. As a long time subscriber to this venue I will now reconsider any future shows. What should have been an enjoyable fun evening was ruined and a total let down.

Long time resident, first time there Oct 20, 2016 for Platinum Blonde. There is NO ticket scanning entering in, we found that real odd. Very small venue, very small! Quite shocked really. No bad seats really, even upper side seemed nice, at least, for the concert. Free Parking is nice. Bar was reasonably priced. Beer in seats? Very cool

For this event, the ushers were extremely obnoxious about cell phones. At the intermission, I was showing the folks behind me some of my pix from Ramin Karimloo 's previous concert , and they jumped all over me as if I was someone who had just produced a gun!

We booked tickets for my mothers birthday to the Nylons concert, in passing I told them about the birthday. When we arrived, there was a happy birthday card taped to my mothers seat from the Rose Theater. The most personal gesture Absolutely amazing!! Thank you.
