Not only does the National Ballet of Canada offer stunning on-stage performances, but they also offer a variety of fun & challenging classes from beginner to expert. I was a bit intimidated when I first signed up for a Beginner Contemporary workshop at the National Ballet but I'm so glad I did. I desperately needed to shake up by routine & this workshop has done just that. Johanna Bergfeldt inspires her students each week with choreography that is perfectly challenging yet accessible to the level of the class. The studio is clean & bright and the live music provided in each class is an added touch that makes the entire experience so fantastic. If you've been on the fence about taking a class, take the leap! I highly recommend it!

Absolutely love this Ballet Company! I have been a supporter since I was a young girl. The productions they produce are like none other. Exceptional display of talent from all aspects of a Ballet production- music, costume design and creation, set, choreography and of course the dancers themselves. Only wish that I had the opportunity to see them more as I now reside in Western Canada. Grateful for all they do to preserve and promote this exquisite art form.

Saw the dress rehearsals for Streetcar Named Desire and Swan Lake as part of my membership benefits and both were fabulous! Streetcar was everything I expected a John Neumier piece to be. Dramatic, edgy, visually stunning. Sonia Rodriguez, Guillaume Cote and Jillian Vanstone were all excellent in the lead roles. Swan Lake was gorgeous as always. The precision and beauty of the corps de ballet and of course the cygnets section were impeccable. Premieres for Christopher Gerty and Emma Hawes in the lead roles were full of emotion and Emma in particular impressed. I was sad not to see Heather Ogden in her return from maternity leave but all in all it left me with the usual feelings of wonder and awe at the grace and technique of this company. Bravo!

An ok performance. The view from my seat was restricted so I didn't get to appreciate the golden egg. The sugar plum fairy was perfection but the bee flailed about like a drunk at a party, not sure if that was intentional but if it was, she pulled it off brilliantly. The nutcracker was good but I think his heart is in more dynamic physically challenging roles as in those moves he excelled. Standout for me was Uncle Nikolai, exuberant, stealthlike, light and limber a joy to watch and evident he relished the role.

Im 50 years old and this was my first time at the ballet. My 29 year old daughter invited me to experience what she has loved for the past few years. I now can understand why. Pinocchio � was entertaining , suspenseful, Magical, humorous and colorful. The orchestra was mesmerizing. Overall the show was filled with beautiful, graceful ballet dancers. Bravo � Bravo �

This was my first time at the ballet. Although A Streetcar Named Desire was more of an interpretive ballet, the building itself was beautiful. And the staff was well organized, courteous, and extremely helpful.

I would like to go back to see a more traditional ballet in the near future.

Really for kids 6 and under. The story is moralizing and old fashioned. All the NBA pictures of the dancers on this site and in their advertising for the season show a modern, edgy assemble but the dancing in Pinocchio was just plain uninspired.

The orchestra as always was excellent but the music was borrowed from every 20th century musical out there. I heard of strains of 'Oklahoma' and I am no musicologist.

I understand the need to attract audiences but dumbing down the ballet is not the way to educate a new audience. Sure throw in the fun stuff but don't throw out the talent and the art of ballet.

Pinocchio is a spectacle, with all that entails. Beautiful costumes, stunning set, amazing music and engaging tableaux. As a piece of dance, I found it could be uneven; sometimes there was simply too much going on for me to appreciate the dance. The underwater scenes were however, "on pointe" (pun intended - I mean they were beautiful). The choral speaking element could have been stronger. Worth seeing. It should be a conversation starter.

My daughter and I were amazed and fell In love with the performance. Thank you so very much for a memory of a lifetime. This was our first time seeing a professional ballet - my 14 yr old daughter dances and I love watching her dance ballet - so this was a treat, a pleasure for us to watch - 💕

There is just no such thing as anything less that 5 stars for me where NBC is concerned. It's always a spectacular performance experience no matter what the program is. I've followed this company since I was 9 years old watching Veronica Tennant dance in Swan Lake. Magnificent then and now! Bravo!

My wife and I loved it. We are newbies to the ballet so we are impressed by every show. It is hard to imagine a bad performance with the caliber of the people involved. It was very moving and, sometimes, disturbing. Some of the dance moves were mesmerizing and unforgettable. I wish I could see it again, there were so many parts I would like to watch once more. The dancers were exquisite and so very expressive.

I saw Streetcar Named Desire last night. I am a huge fan of John Neumeier and always find his choreography inventive with a strong dramatic flair. However this just doesn't work as a ballet. There is too much drama to accurately convey in dance and I found the music in the second act too one dimensional and edgy. It started to get annoying around the 30 minute mark. Sonia Rodriguez was wonderful in the lead and Gullaume Cote should a strong alpha male personality. I am glad I saw it but wouldn't go racing back to see it again.

This was probably the dozenth time I've seen The Nutcracker and, yet, it didn't fail to delight. The Art Deco inspired set design was breathtaking; perhaps the most beautiful I've seen in all my memory. As I posted to Facebook just before the performance began, now it really feels like Christmas. Thank you, National Ballet of Canada!

i was fortunate enough to have watched streetcar named desire, and was so impressed by it all - sets, costumes, music and the phenomenal choreography. everything was a loving, breathing part of the performance. the choreography was so powerful and intense. there aren't words to accurately explain how exceptional the show was. congratulations!
