(Str)awfully scary fact: it takes over 200 years for a straw to break down into tiny little toxic particles. The US and the U.K. toss nearly 550 million plastic straws EACH DAY. Very few are recycled, and most of them end up in our oceans. Save the planet. Refuse the straw 🌎
Cup size doesn't matter 😌

That's all for us folks! Thank you thank you thank you from the depths of our hearts for all of your patience, love and support over the years from even before we ripped the paper off of the windows at our humble beginnings on George St. This community is so beautiful and we feel incredibly blessed to have been a part of it and had the opportunity to get to know so many of you colorful people. We hope The Food Forest has and continues to inspire you to walk a little lighter on this Earth, consider your impact on other beings we share this planet with, and that we have led a solid example of how it IS possible to keep your personal ethics intact even in the face of business. Thank you to our wonderful staff, even the ones who have greatly challenged us, you have all taught us both so much and we are very thankful for your input and individual uniqueness you have brought to the space- not to mention a consistently spot on collective sense of humor, you made this so fun! We wish Laura all the best in carrying the Food Forest vision forward, rest assured she is going to kick ass and we have no doubt in our minds we chose the best human for the job. Running a restaurant is not easy so please welcome her openly and warmly. As mentioned, the cafe will be closed for a refresher June 1-6th, reopening June 7th. See you around Peterborough, keep munchin' the plants! 🌱 -Adam and Katie 💚 ps. !!!!!!!!
I was hesitant to eat here as some of the most recent reviews online weren't stellar. Well I'm sure glad I took a chance because it was delicious! Is it pricey? Yes. But it is organic and vegan, of course those ingredients cost more! When I use cashews at home in recipes it still is costly because nuts are expensive, but restaurants also have to factor so many other things into their prices. And I'd rather pay $15 for fresh, nutritious, delicious food as opposed to when I ate meat and spent almost the same on a combo at McDonald's! The employees are great, the food is tasty and I'll always support a place that uses environmentally friendly packaging - I wish more places did this! If I'm ever in the area again I'll definitely be coming back!
I love the concept and menu and vibes! Polenta chips are divine and the food is still mostly great. It seems like new owners are cutting some corners on the old menu items. I feel ridiculous for saying this, but please, when you say the kale is "massaged" you really do need to massage it! It makes a huuuuuuge difference. Nobody wants to eat raw unhandled kale. And when the menu says housemade raw tortilla chips, please explain if you don't have them and plan on using bagged chips. Little attention to detail like this is why people pay the little bit extra for something special.
Took my mom who is a non vegan here for lunch and she loved it. She ordered the taco salad and I had the spring green bowl. Both were absolutely delish!! Our server was delightful and on point as well. Highly recommend this lovely place!!
I popped in today on my way through Peterborough. Was excited for vegan and gluten free offerings. I ordered the taco salad for takeout, which sounded amazing. Opened it up at home only to find out that the dehydrated red pepper chips that I was totally looking forward to were not even in the box. $16 seems a bit pricey for lettuce and walnuts. :(
Im cross posting what i wrote on google review
I'm very sad to be giving a 1 star because I use to love this restaurant before the new owners took over and it's progressively getting worse everytime I go but I will just start with my last two experiences. First, I ate in a week ago and we waited over an hour for our food and we were not even brought water, we were about to just walk out when the girl finally decided to bring us a menu, second the chef in back was not practicing basic hygine at all he was wiping his face and doing numerous other things that made us feel uncomfortable and the food was just blah.
Then there was today what the heck is going on here. I ordered a living taco which use to be my absolute fav! The old owner use to load them up with lots of raw walnuts and cashew Kream. Today It had of been atleast 90-95% lettuce and no cashew kream. I had a hard time even finding a walnut and the raw wrap was stale and hard. I ate it and I'm still starving and feeling super disappointed. Oh I also forgot to mention i saw more very unhygenic practices again today. Yuck.
I own an organic farm and I appreciate doing better for our mother earth but as I was watching stuff be prepared it hardly looked like anything organic was being used and for the price you are charging I want as much organic as possible.
This used to be our favourite restaurant. We loved the atmosphere and we loved the organic fresh ingredients! Our last few visits have left us likely never to go back. As mentioned by numerous others the staff have no safe food handling practices. Our juices were made by someone who just blew their nose and didn't wash their hands. Very few ingredients are organic now and the prices remain the same. Items have been removed from the menu leaving it very limited. We used to love this place.
My daughter took me today to celebrate my birthday. I love the food, it was delicious. My daughter has the cashew lasagna and I had the mushroom burger. I will be back.
We love it here. As gluten free vegans it's so exciting to eat amazing food out. Most vegan places have little gluten free options as gluten is a binding agent and used so often in fake meat/veggie paddies. It's so excited to me able to eat absolutely everything at food forest and it's all wonderful!
One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I love how they have Gluten Free options. Also the deserts are so good.
Food was super yummy! & a great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
We went there Friday July 7th during our mother/daughters weekend.
It was even better than I had expected.
I had the black bean burger with BBQ sauce.
It was so delicious and I want to go back again soon.
All of our meals were exceptional
Oh. I must mention the falafel appetizer platter. best falafel we ever had
I absolutely love this place. Hard to eat healthy all the time when you have to eat out so it's a must whenever I am in Peterborough to eat here. Staff is awesome, service is great and food is always delicious as well as healthy. Important when dealing with cancer 😊
One of the most amazing restaurants in Peterborough ! And it just so happens to have the yummies raw/vegan/glutenfree menu ! I bring all sorts of friends and family here - and ( unexpectedly) They all are so impressed and overjoyed - with full bellies!
This is also a routine " fast food" stop for myself on the go . It's just so yummy- I can't get enough.
Nothing better than fresh organic food. ❤️
I suggest the living tacos
The Food Forest is an amazing place to visit with family and friends and have an awesome meal. The staff are amazing too, friendly and very down to earth, they take time to connect with you during your visit. I've tried many things on their menu and it's all very yummy. I also love that it's mostly organic, and that its Vegan and gluten free. I want to say again that the staff is amazing.
I have been to the Food Forest three times now. It's been very good each time. The Caesar salad is amazing. It's somewhat pricey but it's all organic, homemade food that's so healthy and delicious. My daughter and I went October 26th and it took a while before we ordered because our waitress and another staff were at the back talking and we felt like we weren't a priority. I noticed another woman sitting at a table and she had to tell the waitress that she wanted to order tea. Overall though, great food.
Excellent customer service and the macaroon cookies are delicious I can't wait to try out some of the salads on the menu I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a very calm atmosphere with staff who are kind and care about the well being of their customers
I am so happy we have The Food Forest in Peterborough. Every item on the menu is amazing (I have tried almost everything). The amount of care the staff put into the restaurant is unlike anything you have ever seen before. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and genuine. The owners are so hands on and glad to answer any questions about the menu, and are always around. The food is super healthy and so delicious and comforting you would never know it. They are also now licensed and serve gluten free beer so it is an awesome date spot. I have brought many friends into this restaurant and got them hooked. You have to eat here :)
Had lunch here with a friend today. Place was crowded (it's a small restaurant!) but the service was prompt, the food was tasty and the staff were lovely. We got treats for the road and they were amazing too! Love that there's a great plant-based option in Peterborough!
Amazing fresh and delicious vegan/vegetarian food!!
I love this place! I always get excited to eat where I can have anything on the menu without having to ask a million questions. My family who isn't not vegan( also loves their amazing food!
