We have been going to the Duncan House for years,my husband since he was a child. The changes the new owners made are TERRIBLE!

The charm of the restaurant is gone cheap chairs, carpets and decor took its place. Instead of classic charm it reassembles a night club with light up bottles and fire lamps. It took 15 minuets before a server even acknowledged us at our table. Our food was brought up by bus boys and left to sit in a service window until our poor waitress who had been running around came to serve it. Such a different experience from previous where our water glass never reached half empty.

The prices have been jacked way up for LESS food. My husband ordered a 67 dollar steak that came and was just a slab of meat on a plate to add potatoes extra ten bucks, add a vegetable extra ten bucks. Used to get the prime rib with potatoes, veggies and Yorkshire pudding for 55 dollars. Unreal that 67 dollars gets you a piece of meat on a plate. We ordered a ten dollar side of potatoes and sent it back, ten dollars for a scoop of potatoes that was more sour cream than anything.

The best part of this restaurant has always been the table side Cesar salad not any more. It to has changed, we have watched it be made dozens of times. Its like the new owners told the servers to make it with less cheese, bacon; no where near as good.

The one highlight was our waitress was pleasant and from the old Duncan House staff. She was as attentive as could be and listened to our complaints. Even we our concerns ( we sent back an appetizer and potatoes) no manager came to speak to us.

We will not be back which is a shame as we have been regulars until this visit. Overpriced bad wedding food, such a shame from what it was.

This is a warning to anyone who is thinking of booking an event “by Peter and Paul’s”. I booked my bridal shower back in November at The David Duncan House expecting the quality and service we all knew and loved. Growing up I celebrated many happy moments there with my dad and it felt suiting to also celebrate my bridal shower there.

But since it was bought over by Peter and Paul’s it’s been nothing short of a nightmare. And today 2 WEEKS before my bridal shower they CANCELLED my event. They claim they only found out today about the closure to renovate When I know for a fact they knew about the renovations for over a month.

In their slogan They claim “hospitality is in their DNA” but they have no idea how to run a business and have managed to ruined a major milestone event for me.

I have been a customer of the David Duncan house for over 18 years, and this visit was like going to a funeral.

The David Duncan House HAD this beautiful haunted charm to it - the heavy rich furniture, stain glass, antiques. The walls could talk, something definitely worth preserving, or at least restore with great design.

Well folks Peter and Paul's basically turned this historic gem into a woodbridge banquet hall. Horrible carpets, gold rental wedding chairs (seriously) and the menu is so ridiculously OVER priced its nauseating. Going to the David Duncan House NOW is like literally going to a wedding, pay your $150 per person however it does not include the dj, 150 guests, gifts & dancing.

Here's the worst part and why i'm really pissed.my family has been going here since I was a teen, our favourite thing to eat is the table-side caesar salad. This salad was so well made with confident hands, everything a salad should be. It was huge and easily feed 4 (even-though it was for 2) it was like $25 bucks.

NOW the table side Caesar is $38!!!!!

I tried to like the salad but it was wrong. It's really hard to enjoy a meal when you know you are being ripped off. $60-180/steak, fish $42, $12-18 per SIDE, $18 glasses of house wine, $15 dessert. The foodwedding food, seriously.

They say change is good, I don't see it.

    RIP,

    David Duncan House
